So quit using the words "unwritten rules". Just think of them as guidelines and consequences. Look, we can both have different ideas on the matter, but the fact is they are there and always have been. Sometimes it takes something shitty to stop something shitty. You saying "hey you can't do that" isn't effective with assholes.
I agree with everything up until the bolded. But, then we'd have to discuss specific scenarios rather than the general "unwritten rules" topic you broached.

For example--if Tatis hits a grand slam off you in the 8th, if you have a problem with that, that's on you. Don't throw at the person and then use "unwritten rules" as your defense.

For another example--if a pitcher intentionally throws at a hitter because he's mad over *insert reason here* then the ump should eject him. If that fails, the manager should pull that guy. I wouldn't expect someone from the other team to charge the mound, or bean a player on that pitcher's team in retaliation then use "unwritten rules" as justification for their shitty behavior.

I'm guessing that, in terms of practicality, we're pretty close.

I think we're pretty close ideally also. I'd like to reiterate that in no way, shape, or form would I blame Tatis Jr or anyone for hitting a HR off of me regardless of the score. Now, if Tatis Jr hits a HR off of me then proceeds to taunt me then the next pitch he gets from me will be on his backside. Carlos Gomez for example, would only ever see 1 pitch from me, unless he's from the matrix.

Hypothetical:

Tatis hits a homer off you, and taunts you. He stares you down, does some little antagonistic action, then flips his bat. His manager pulls him from the game, calls out Tatis's behavior, and then the next day Tatis as well apologizes and says he acted out of line.

He doesn't do the same behavior again--and 2 months later in the season, you're finally facing him again. Before the game he even comes up to you and apologizes for showing you up like that. Now, it's game time and he steps into the batter's box against you.

Are you throwing at him? Because, in my opinion, that's shitty behavior. But, I'd have no doubt there are major leaguers who would throw at him there and claim "unwritten rules" as their defense.

It's using that as a defense for shitty behavior that I (and probably @Derek but I don't want to put words into his mouth) have a problem with.

Absolutely not. He apologized and admitted regret for his behavior. Throwing at him after doing so would be serious bush league IMO.

Posted up something today and it reminded me => I hadn't looked in our old friend Mickey yet this year

Whether you look at it by fWAR or by ERA, doesn't look pretty. Wonder what happened to the "Mickey Magic" @ CATS

I mean, the Angels were 29th in Starter ERA and 30th in Stater fWAR last year. I don't have a strong opinion on Callaway but what exactly would one expect? Still very early yet, but at least Dylan Bundy is finally showing signs of his potential.

From that perspective, at least on the fWAR side, it would seem like an improvement then.

Will check back at the 2/3rds pole and then see where they finish out the season

Blue Jays designate Thomas Pannone - not sure he ever threw a pitch for the Indians - traded him for Joe Smith a couple years back

Mike Trout Rookie Card Sets Record For Highest-Selling Sports Card Ever
Ben Pickman Aug 23, 2020

A Mike Trout rookie card set the new record for highest-price sold at auction on Saturday night when it was purchased for nearly $4 million, Goldin Auctions announced Sunday.

The 2009 Bowman Chrome Draft Prospects Mike Trout Superfractor signed Rookie Card Serial sold for $3.936 million, surpassing the previous record held by a 1909 Honus Wagner T-206 card, which sold for $3.12 million in 2016.
The identity of the Trout card's buyer was not made public.

"This event was somewhat of a perfect storm as we had a remarkable collection of historic memorabilia supported by incredible marketing and publicity during a great market for sports collectibles," Ken Goldin, founder of Goldin Auctions, said in an official release.

The auction for the record-breaking Trout card began in July with an opening bid of $1 million.

Trout was drafted No. 25 overall in the 2009 MLB draft.

He did not make his MLB debut until 2011, when he played 40 games with Los Angeles.

He won the Rookie of the Year award in 2012.

Joey Votto with the golden sombrero tonight - hard to believe - and David Bell has him batting leadoff - 191/333/341/675 - ops+ 80

25 mil this season and next and next and next - 20 mil club option for 2024 w 7 mil buyout

also had an error that led to a run in a 3-2 reds loss

always liked this guy, but thought the reds made a mistake with that cotract

Almost every big contract given out looks like a big mistake over the last few years of it.

At this point, I think teams have to know that when they’re handing out these deals.

Which is why I like this organization not getting drowned by contracts like this.
