I would be stunned if the next White Sox manager is anyone but AJ Hinch or Alex Cora.

We can hope so. I didn’t see any managerial revelations during his tryout in 2020. If we want a former Indians player, we should reach out to Omar.

You know Sandy has never actually managed a ball club at any level before this season right? By all rights Sarbaugh should have been the the guy, but if Sandy got it over him, my guess is the organization believes he can do it. I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

at soxtalk, a CWSox blog/forum.. they're of the notion that it could be Mike Scioscia... AJ Hinch.. Cora, Francona and "someone still working in the playoffs" as the likely candidates..

So.. could be anyone..still..

Francona????

Francona????
the thinking (if you want to call what CWSox fans do thinking).. is that the cheap indians will cut their manager to save a nickel.. as "...they're always cutting costs..."

No !!.. really.. that's what they said...

Not entirely accurate... He did get 6 games to manage the Tribe at the end of the 2012 season (went 3-3 IIRC) once Acta was let go...
Sandy was considered a front runner for the 2013 position until Tito put his hat into the ring...

All that said I do like Sarbough... 9 (10?) seasons managing in the Tribe minors... Never had a losing record & won multiple league titles along the way...
Yes he was developing young talent but he was also winning with it..

What is likely to happen in due time, is once Francona retired, Mills will retire with him. I have a hunch Francona will stay in the organization in some capacity as well. Then Alomar will be the manager with Sarbaugh as the bench coach (wish it was the other way), but thats likely what will be up when Franconas contract ends (I believe in 22?)

Man that sucks about Joe Morgan. So many all timers this year have passed.

I remember Joe Morgan calling the 1997 world series. Plus those Sunday Night games with Jon Miller on ESPN is what I grew up on....

Great voice and insight for the game.

Jeez, Sandy must really love it here to be waiting that long.

Interesting that La Russa is now considered the front runner for CWS manager. 76 years old and hasn't
managed since 2011.

I guess if 70+ is good enough to be president, it's good enough to manage a baseball team.

From Joel Sherman:

The big-body, offense-first, low-energy, defensively deficient catcher is going, going …

As one executive said, “When the automated strike zone comes maybe you can have a DH catch because framing will mean nothing or maybe if we give the catcher an earpiece and can feed him every pitch, game calling will mean nothing. But we are asking catchers to make 150 decisions a game and have deep relationships with every pitcher and more than ever you cannot throw the defensive component away.”

MLB Trade Rumors has published their projected arbitration salaries for all the clubs.. For the Indians, if all arbitration eligible players go to arbitration and win, the Indians would see a payroll increase of $ 6.4 MM for 7 players..

In short.. it should be a dull arb-season..
