No.. DC is wrong.. he's almost always wrong...

Hoese or Busch represent the kind of position player talent the current roster, both minor leagues and major leagues lack.. We have plenty of SP candidates.. and we'll draft and develop more.. That we can all agree has been and continues to be the strength of the Indians system. Adding a pitching prospect as a "key component" of a deal.. when position player talent IS the most glaring need.. seems to be the wrong move..

As far as trading JRam..now is the time.. better a year too early than a year too late. This year, there are at least four ML teams that are viable trade partners for a quality 3B that is controllable or more than a one year rental.. Trading JRam can bring home the bacon.. including his replacement..

As far as someone getting in the way / blocking another player.. that's EXACTLY the kind of situation the Indians NEED to have.. it's the only way for EVERYONE to get better..

Thoughts?..

I don't believe there is ever too many high level SP prospects like Gray. He would be the #1 SP prospect in the Indian's system if acquired. What we do have is a plethora of MIF prospects. Freeman and Bracho are both ranked higher than Hoese and Busch in the rankings I've seen. We also have Jones who will end up in LF or 1B. I think it will be 1B because he doesn't run well enough to play the OF IMO. I like Hoese, but I fear he may also end up at 1B due to his lack of range. If he can stick at 3B then I'm ok with what you suggested. I'd much rather target someone like Groshans for 3B in a Lindor or Carrasco deal though.

Clearly I agree that now is the best time to trade Ramirez, but MC/CA would need to have a brass pair to do it. They would take some serious shit, and the Dolans are cheap crowd would be screaming, but in a season or 2 this team could be a real contender with a roster that can stick together for a few years. Clearly the financial strain created by the pandemic is influential. The question is how influential and does it force CLEFO to be more aggressive in a retooling effort?

They are retooling and that means keeping JRam since trading him means almost a rebuild. Who is established in that lineup if we trade him?

Also who is replacing Ramirez at 3B? Jones quite frankly is bad defensively there plus he is a platoon guy batting wise at the moment. Chang has the most experience there I believe of the young guys we have.

We would have way too many unproven players all having to step up. Not a good thing to do at all!

Yeah because all of our "established" guys have got us to the promised land. The days of cruising through a shitty AL Central are over bruh.........OVAH! You want established and I want a lineup like the White Sox. I want a lineup that is balanced, talented, young, and inexpensive like the rotation and BP currently are. If that means that Ramirez has to be traded in order to do so then by all means trade his ass yesterday.

Almost always wrong? Really? Am I wrong for dismissing your endless grandiose trade ideas that will never happen? Am I wrong for suggesting Ramirez’s team-friendly contract makes him less likely to be traded? Am I wrong for thinking this off-season covid-induced nuclear winter will make nearly all trades for high end prospects virtually impossible? Before criticizing my future posts, I urge you to think more carefully about your proposals and whether they have any chance of ever seeing the light of day,

-Ideas aren't grandiose..
-You don't know if trades will or won't happen
-Ramirez being traded is unknown..with or without a team friendly contract.
-There is no proven connectivity to trades and covid
-More than half of the ideas presented are from sources such as Trade Boards, Team Forums, comment sections, etc.. so by being posted, they have seen the "light of day"

So, yes.. always wrong..

There are three primary guys:

-Lindor.. who we know WILL be traded.. no uncertainty about that.. With only one year remaining, his value is presented as "waning"

-Carrasco.. who I, personally, would love to see stay.. and would prefer that either Zach Plesac or no one from the pitching staff is considered in trade unless the return (along with at least one additional blue chip prospect) is an immediate starting OF'er like Clint Frazier or Brandon Marsh (two teams that have a desperate need for an MOR/TOR SP)

-Jose Ramirez.. who has the 2021 season before he MUST be traded. Big return that fills two holes now and into the future is needed for him..

Jose is at the peak of his value to the Indians, right now, from a trade perspective. There are several competitive teams that are desperately seeking to complete their lineups with the addition of a 3B. These teams include Toronto, Atlanta, LA Dodgers. Couple this need with three years of cost certainty, along with the limited returns from a Lindor trade and the Indians could possibly realize the kind of return that puts the entire club right back on track to being the BEAST of the AL Central..

This could be accomplished without touching the entire pitching staff, however, if ONE pitcher is sacrificed.. this would solidify a thorough/complete retool. That one pitcher could be Zach Plesac as he could bring back the value the Tribe would need.. Cookie should complete his contract with the Indians, imho..

Better now.. than after next year.. when these assets' value begins to wane.. like Lindor's is waning now.

Since you stubbornly insist on provoking, here is my reply:

— when you propose multiple trade variations a half dozen times daily, many involving three teams and up to 10-12 players, yes that is grandiose regardless of what you think.
— no one truly knows whether trades will happen; neither you or I.
— Ramirez being traded is an unknown; I simply said it unlikely this off-season due to the team friendly contract.
— COVID adds an enormous economic uncertainty to the off-season and upcoming regular season and uncertainty likely inhibits trades. I don’t see how it can be interpreted otherwise.
— I do appreciate reading ideas from other forums; I often post them myself. That doesn’t mean they come to fruition.

So keep criticizing my posts as you see fit. Just remember to hide behind your couch afterward. Thoughts?

@Gson and @DCTribefan knock off the back and forth from each other for a minute, starting to get into personal stuff that's going to peeps in trouble. We dont really want that here so move on please. No one is right or wrong in here until facts come out and honestly there is nothing out so neither of you is right and neither of you is wrong. Leave the names of each other out of this please. This is supposed to be a fun place to talk about the Indians so please keep it that way.

My opinion towards things-

Carrasco- He signed a second contract extension to stay in Cleveland and gets his 10/5 rights during the season. 90% chance he finishes his contract in Cleveland in my mind

Lindor- will be traded for the minimum at least put out by the rumors/FO. I dont expect anything less than 3 players at or near the MLB level.

JRam- I said before anyone else JRam could be traded and honestly I really doubt he will be. His return would be great, so I dont doubt if he does get traded it will be for a major haul , but he will not be traded unless its an overpay.

McKenzie/Plesac added in deals- Indians are looking to improve the overall roster and our SP is good, but if either of them get traded is because the dont trust them going forward (McKenzie durability and Plesac-personality). I dont see either guy getting moved

BTW coach - how come I always got busted by the moderator and they don't

DISCRIMINATION I say, discrimination for sure ;)

I don’t know. Could it be your ongoing bromance with Bauer?
WOW DC - just WOW.

I don't even mention that UNMENTIONABLE name and you try to saddle me with it - :celb (7):

PS DC - loved you giving Gson shit. It was about the most interesting thing I have seen on this board for a month. All the trade three black cats for two purple ones and throw in a bag of class c prospects to even it out gets old real fast.

I wouldn't doubt if you always posted when he was on, since he does a good job of keeping up with everything on this site because he posts in a lot of the sections on here.
