Personally, there are people whose posts I always read, and there are others that I usually just skim through their comments or skip them altogether. I pretty much know the slant of each of the “regulars“ on here. I don’t follow the “Linder trade proposals” thread because it doesn’t interest me to read endless speculation that is 99% unlikely to happen. Once he’s actually traded, I’ll follow that thread to see what everyone thinks of the return.

Similar to posts by “Reno” on the former IBI boards, the simple approach is to just avoid reading posts from the “annoying” folks. The personal attacks are counterproductive.

Also provided is a response to the statement: "...the Indians have a much bigger need in the outfield than at catcher.." by other chatters who enjoy discourse and the tet^a^tet of defining the prospects we enjoy with others we feel would help our favorirw major league club(s)...

The best OF candidate from the Dodgers they could make available isn't worth adding to this deal.. The deal has two serviceable components:

1. Position Players.. Keibert Ruiz C and Michael Busch 2B: Ruiz has the innate ability to be much better than the 16th or 19th of a rating something or other.. He has soft hands.. He has GREAT feet.. He moves with speed and agility behind the plate.. He's a switch hitter who can and will back up Bebo and LEARN from Bebo's mastery of catching.. Coming up in the Dodger system.. that wasn't the case.. Busch is a flat out hitter.. hide him at 2B.. hide him at DH.. hide him in LF.. hide his glove.. but put him in the lineup and watch balls get driven EVERYWHERE.. Hitters like this kid.. you can never have enough..

2. Two Starting Pitchers: one a keeper and one a flipper...

Landon Knack: is exactly what the Indians look for in a prospect SP.. He is a superb control artist that is growing into his repertoire and velocity. Think about where he'll be in 18 months..starting for the Indians at the corner of Ontario and Carnegie.. He's that advanced in stuff and command..

Josiah Gray: High energy and helium guy that is both strong and ready now as a ML'er.. Perhaps as good as anyone already in the Tribe system with the caveat that his readiness and status is only as a high leverage reliever for right now.... Josiah Gray is not the Indians' kind of SP. He has one weapon and two work in progress pitches, imho, but has the helium of a high end SP prospect. He'll be traded..

I believe if he's coupled with Lindor a return of Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Brandon Marsh, Nick Senzel, or Clint Frazier as the head liner is enticing as hell:

Team A, B, C, or D get Josiah Gray & Franciscco Lindor

Indians get:
A: Lourdes Gurriel OF, and Jordan Groshans SS/3B
B: Brandon Marsh OF, Reid Detmers SP and Jordyn Adams OF
C: Nick Senzel OF/SS, Austin Hendrick OF and Tyler Stephenson C
D. Clint Frazier OF, Jasson Dominguez OF, and Oswald Peraza SS

Can a pair of deals consecutively be done.. sure.. could they be done as three way deals.. less likely. This is the thinking..Oh.. and JRam and Cookie would remain.. not bad, huh?

Criz.. honestly.. I'm okay with one SP being traded..no more than that.. and, a deal must include at least a prospect SP in the Indians mold coming back as part of the deal.. Furthermore.. if its Plesac or Carrasco.. that would be the only one.. but, because of Cookies' track record.. his value is on the same level as Plesac..

Tell Eli that the Yankees don't want to move Torres anywhere except to 2B and that it will take more than Frazier to get Lindor. If they want to add a SP like Schmidt or Gil to the proposal then I might consider it. The one question I have is what would the Indians do with Torres? Are you going to block the likes of Miller, Freeman, Bracho, and others at 2B. Torres is terrible defensively at SS and that doesn't fit the Tribe's MO.

The Indians are looking to have a roster full of young, inexpensive but good players. Why in the hell would they be interested in trading Plesac unless it's an overpay. Please don't say "because he broke covid protocol" either because that isn't true and it's stupid.

While you're talking to Eli, tell him if he wants Lindor and Plesac then the price will be Frazier, Adujar, Schmidt and Gil. If they don't want to part with Schmidt I understand, then I'll take Gomez instead.

Plesac and Lindor have a combined net present value of $ 87 MM.. adding all five of the yankees listed and combined comes to $ 57 MM.. those five plus Jasson Dominguez would make the deal "fair". Because of Andujar's lack of everything, Frazier's lack of track record, a fair deal would have to include an additional $ 10 MM in value (Oswald Peraza?) going to the Indians..

Here's the rub.. Any deal with the NYY's.. imho, has to be followed with flipping at least half of the guys acquired.. perhaps all the pitchers to the Angels or Cardinals or Rangers or Braves or anywhere.. as anyone has seen, you just can't trust ANY of the NYY pitching prospects... They ultimately fail, disappoint or both.. Also, if Andujar is sent in a deal.. he should be flipped to Tampa.. The Rays like defense challenged players who have a grudge against the NYY's.. It would be nice to see Andujar kicking NYY ass many times each year..

Agreed.. a very nice landing spot for Bauer.. Joe Maddon and Bauer together would be entertainment in and of itself.. Arte Moreno would love to have the focus OFF the Dodgers and on the Angels.. Make an additional deal with for an impact bat or two in a three way deal..and the Angels will have their headlines.. maybe a few more wins, too..
