Quantrill will get more strikeouts. But again, i watched several games worth of video and I just don't see it. That said, I do believe he could become a legit weapon out of the pen, but getting through the order 3 times in a row.. See Josh Tomlin.
His stats as a starter are as good as coming out of the BP. In fact, they used him as an opener a couple of times and he proceeded to pitch 4 and 3 innings when they were only expecting 1 or 2. Losing his velocity has never been an issue. He's in the top 10 MLB pitchers in exit velocity. You think Tomlin was ever close to that?

When fans want to damn with faint praise, they mention Tomlin, who had great command but never averaged 90 in his career.

Quantrill throws 5 MPH harder than Tomlin...for starters.

Quantrill was a first rounder, and few first rounders, sans injuries, fail to eclipse anything Tomlin has.

I will take the over.

When I saw him last year I was impressed. Not wowed, but impressed. He has a solid future.

Nick Markakis is retiring -- really nice career!

.288/.357/.423 batter over the life of 9321 plate appearances...2388 hits, including 189 home runs, 514 doubles and 22 triples to go along with 66 steals, 1046 runs batted in and 1119 runs scored. He was a strong defender, too.

Maybe the game of baseball should be "saved" by a player with an OPS higher than .750.
It will be, he will be motivated and put up far better numbers. I don't put it past him at all, he has the stage he has wanted for years.

well, you have to cut him some slack for 2020 because he said he wasn't really trying.

His claims about not trying in the weight room, this trying to excuse his underwhelming stats during contract negotiations with the Mets, reminds me of a friend who claimed he "wasn't even trying, bro" each time he lost in FIFA on Xbox.

We'll see. He had quite the stage in the 2017 ALDS and the 2020 Wild Card Series, and with the exception of the 2017 G2 grand slam, he was complete ass.

Plus, his numbers with RISP from 2019-2020 don't exactly endorse the theory that he shines brightest in the big moments.

He was giving a free pass on coming up short in clutch moments by Cleveland media and fans; NYC media and Mets fans will be booing him by May if he scuffles in clutch situations.

Lindor was a great player for us, one of the best shortstops in Tribe history.

He had an off year last season, so bad that his fWAR over a full season would have been only 4.9.

Dear Lord,

If you are an Indians fan like I am, and if you have the time, would you please grant me one insignificant little wish?

Will you allow every Tribe player to have an off year, like Lindor had last year, so that everybody puts up only 4.9 fWAR?

Thanks, CATS44

I hung with Jose thru his 15 months of baseball purgatory with no complaints.....kept pulling for him.

The difference, in my mind, was that Jose was trying his best thru the difficult time. At least from what we know. He was doing what he could and just was struggling.

Frankie, Francisco, came out and admitted that he mailed it in to some degree. THAT is the difference to me. Just like when LeBron mailed in the Boston playoff series before leaving for Miami. No thanks. See ya.

Jose is a superior player than Lindor.

But trashing a guy who over the course of his time here was arguably the best SS in baseball kinda goes against my grain.

Thanks for the memories and best wishes to him.

I hear you, he was such a joy to watch for the vast majority of his time here.

However, his less-than-inspired performance last season, not to mention a 2019 where he finished 61st overall in WRC+ (though quite solid, isn't exactly screaming $350 million extension), along with bizarre comments about his name and weight room efforts, doesn't exactly make him the guy to proclaim himself the game's savior on SI.

I still wish him well in NYC, but as someone who lives there, he's in for a very short honeymoon with the fans and media.

Go Gimenez, Rosario, Arias, Chang, Rocchio, the kid we drafted in the 1st round in 2020 and any other SS who will wear the Cleveland uniform.
