Here are betting line from Caesars on # of wins. Indians at 81, 8.5 and 9.5 behind Sox and Twins. Even .5 game behind the Reds ... more in line w FanGraph than Pecota

Your are a passionate guy Cats but you make a lot of assumptions. It is beyond clear different owners spent differently. Paul is a penny pincher, simple as that.

You cannot compare Basketball to baseball completely different animals.

They are a different animal, but on paper, basketball has a way fairer system to small market teams. If we had the same system in baseball as basketball, Lindor would have never left because Cleveland could offer him more money than any other team because of the birds rights rules. Indians have one of the best FOs in all of the american sports and if you gave them an even playing field with the big boys, it would be hard pressed to beat the team normally. It wouldnt be a Patriots type of dynasty, but for sure, it would be pretty close to it.

I agree it is a fairer system in most respects, but all I see now is "super teams", teams tanking and whorish playoffs full of average teams that seem to last as long as the reg season. Basketball sucks.. What makes baseball so much better is the flexibility.

If Vegas is putting CLE at being .500, bet the over.
Who is traveling to Vegas in the next few weeks?? I'll give you some money to place on the over for me.

Why my confidence??? Since Tito arrived for the 2013 season, CLE has had 1 season at .500 and been over .500 7 times. I like that track record & odds.

Well, we can speculate pro and con about everything Tribe related...except one thing.

In 2013 Paul Dolan officially took over control of the Indians. While fans have complained non stop about how cheap he is, all his organization has done is win a lot of baseball games.

Again, trophies aren't given for spending money or accumulating prospects.

Winning is the only scoreboard that counts.

Problem is when we went and got EE and attendance didn't go up very much, that didnt help matters at all. Now that being stated, they did get rid of the early bird discounts on games, so that didn't help matters either, plus I have heard the season ticket reps arent good either.

Not being able to extend Lindor and assuming JRam won't be here in a season or 2 hurts the fandom.. They realize they have to plug in some youngsters now out of necessity and hope someone excels. To make things better we have a couple to a few(!) quality prospects set to debut in 2021.

So hopefully in the next season or 2, one or 2 guys establish themselves as a (potential) major star. Then lock them up for 10 years...

I will be very curious to see the attendance numbers after the name change.

I would put money on that it won't change. We don't have Lindor anymore so that will be the excuse for not coming. Hate to say it that way, but it will probably be true.

I think attendance will be good because it will give people something to do to remind them of preCOVID. Will be almost a social event whether the team is good or bad.

And by good, I mean in terms of what is allowed.

Indians rarely got above 70% in attendance, so its not unreasonable to get the 20ish % to start the season and the 50ish area to finish the season. Not sure if they will go higher than that even with the vaccines for this season. If the Indians dont jack up prices and keep them on the cheaper end, then yeah we will get max attendance via covid numbers. I just dont feel we will ever get above the 70% mark even with a new name.

I will be curious to see how they handle seating this year. I know they have already sent out a survey to STH regarding seating for April games. Nothing crazy, just asking what your preferences would be for games and if you prefer certain seating areas based on social distancing.

It will likely only be season ticket holders plus friends/family of players in the stands at least to start the season. There will be a separate spot for the taxi squad in case of the covid issues arises.

I think as the governor opens up things/as vaccines become available to everyone, some non season ticket holders will be able to get seats.

They will just have everyone spaced out as much as possible type of thing, while having a temp check as you enter the ball park etc.

That is just my educated guess though.
