2020 Assistant Coach News

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Petzing has worked closely with Stefanski for a very long time. They've both been on the same offensive staff since 2014 and Petzing was then QB coach Stefanski's assistant QB coach in 2018.

McAdoo's resume:

*HC
*OC
*QB Coach
*Ast OL Coach
*TE Coach
*Ties to Wolf & Highsmith
*Experience with Odell

“In 2014, McAdoo joined Tom Coughlin’s staff as the offensive coordinator for the New York Giants.[5] In his first season as offensive coordinator, the Giants offense improved from the 28th-highest-scoring offense in 2013 under Kevin Gilbride to 13th in 2014. In 2015, the offense took another leap forward, becoming the sixth-highest-scoring offense despite losing starting left tackle Will Beatty, starting wide receiver Victor Cruz, and starting tight end Larry Donnell for most of the season due to injury.”

Petzing was on the Browns staff in 2013 as an intern with Norv Turner

The names of young players Petzing has developed as a position coach are pretty exciting. He was position coach for Jerrick McKinnon, Stephon Diggs, and Adam Theilen as rookies. Just like Stefanski, his background was on the defensive side of the ball, but switched to a position coach of multiple offensive positions. If Stefanski sees some of himself in the guy, I'm glad the Browns got him into the building.

McAdoo could be an option for OC or QB coach since he has experience in both roles.

If he ends up as OC, my guess is that Stefanski would retain playcalling duties and McAdoo would be, like Scangarello, more involved in a teaching and installing game plans perspective.

he was an assistant wr coach until this year so I wouldn’t get overly excited saying he developed anyone. I’m sure he helped but he was the assistant.

Judging coaches who have been in football 5 minutes on "who they've developed" isn't a great metric.

You have no idea who these guys are or what they'll do, so maybe lets not pretend to until they actually have some long-term experience and visibility into what their coaching styles and methods are.

Petzing seems like a pretty sharp guy, in what limited opportunities I've seen him speak.

It's also worth noting, that McAdoo is in the facility the day after Stefanski met with Odell.

I wonder if Odell recommended McAdoo for a spot on the staff?
