Bruhs,

This coaching search will start and end with Jimmy Haslam. Remove your personal bias and preferences. Remember who the owner of the team is. Did y'all forget how hard he went after Chip Kelly and Jim Harbaugh? The Haslams got their start in the NFL from The Steelers organization. What that basically means is if the league committee or coaching firms say that candidate A, B, and C are the highly recommended candidates then expect him to make a play for them. As much as people don't like some of the names being thrown out as retreads you need to remember who the owner is.

I know people want to think Jimmy Haslam has taken a step back and has allowed John Dorsey to do his thing. I'm sure he has done just that. To an extent. Now with more scrutiny coming our way after this horrible season you really think Haslam has it in him not to do what his gut is telling him? I'm not saying I know what he's thinking either. I do know and we all know from past history what his tendencies are and the type of coaches he has interest in. If anything the way this season has turned out he probably feels he has even more reason to go get his big fish. That's why names like Jim Harbaugh, Bill Cowher, Saban aren't going anywhere if this team has an opening. I know Freddie has not been fired yet but you're kidding yourself if you don't think Haslam isn't gonna kick the tires on any of the big names if he hasn't already. I just have no reason to believe that he won't and I don't care what John Dorsey comes out and says. It starts at the top and Jimmy Haslam is at the top.

So with that said I'm fully prepared for us to fire Freddie and hire a retread who probably won't be popular with most of us but it is what it is. We can't fire the owner and I just think that people are forgetting who owns the team.

All the options suck. I guess Stefanski is the least suckiest option but it isn't like the Vikings have been an offensive juggernaut this year either. I just like him over other retreads.

The question is, do some of these options suck less than Kitchens? I think so.

But can he lead a team? I know that’s almost an impossible question to answer without seeing it but we’ve seen so many great coordinators turn out to be terrible coaches.

Name me 1 marquee coach this team has had since 99....I'll wait.

So....why not kick the tires on a big name?

Holmgren wasnt a coach but he was supposed to be marquee. Football guy.

We have kicked the tires on a big name. Jim Harbaugh, Chip Kelly, Bill Cowher, Nick Saban. Haslam has always gone after the big names. the problem is we were never in a desirable position for any of us to truly consider taking the job except for Chip Kelly. Now hindsight might say that we dodged a bullet with Chip Kelly be he was the hottest name at the time and we met with him for hours. We literally tried to trade for Harbaugh. Haslam has reached out to Nick Saban every chance he could when we had an opening.

Put it this way. If Harbaugh or Bill Cowher made it known that they were interested and wanted the job it would be theirs. You really think he's gonna turn them down? I don't. I know it would piss people off if we went that route but that's where we are.

Agreed - I guess I should have emphasized actually hiring a marquee coach.

This team isn't anywhere close to the crap we used to put out on the field.

at this point I’d throw a parade for Harbaugh. Couldn’t care less about the Michigan stuff. Ohio state fans need to get over themselves. He’s a proven successful nfl coach.

Should’ve signed Arians when we had the chance. He has the Bucs competing and they could win out after a rough start. A true pro vs this shit show

Bowles has done a fantastic job considering the talent he’s had to work with.

Arians made so much sense and I said the same thing then. He wanted the job extremely badly, and was very clear he would keep Freddie on board to be his OC. I thought it was a no brainer and they didn't even interview him...

We paid him to sit on his ass apparently. The most moves he made was on his golf cart during training camp.

I still think Mangini was ousted too quickly. Him and Davis were probably the best hires we've made at HC since 99.
