2020 Buckeyes Football

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I like the letter because it speaks to the level of interest in these kids have in leading conversations, not just being a part of them.

Also speaks to their coaching staff for helping them realize that freedom.

Most importantly, if the kids ever feel differently about the protocols down the road, they’ve earned themselves credibility up front by discussing it now as a group.

Just a well executed move.

Side note: the tweet I linked yesterday was Ryan Donnelly’s reporting that highlighted the politization of this letter by certain groups of people. Most (all) of whom are using it to make this out to be a political statement that it isn’t.

I figured it was something like that. Some of the reaction to this letter has been pathetic. People just can't accept a good thing, especially coming from Ohio State.

Sounds like there is some momentum to maybe still cancel big ten sports this fall. Yikes.

The same people who call for “unity” in the divide are the first to use stuff like this as politicized “ammo” to win a meaningless debate.

Ohio State has possibly the most money on the line in the conference. We have the most resources and the best team with the best shot at winning a title. If any program is going to do whatever necessary to play it's us. But even if Ohio State nails their protocols, things could go wrong and they can't control the other teams in the conference.

With the MAC officially done for the fall, and with the pandemic possibly getting even worse, it still feels like the best option is canceling the fall season.

So I think this is the rabbit hole the big 10 presidents go down.

1. We can protect the football players with testing and bring them into one building or complex to live like a bubble.
2. Rutgers, Maryland, etc say they need money to do that from the powerhouse schools.
3. If we do it for football we might have to do it for all fall sports (title 9).
4. Regular students and staff are going to demand widespread testing if the athletes are getting it. You can't say the health and safety of the athletes are more important than the regular students and especially the staff who will be more at risk.
5. None of the schools have the ability to do that or get the supplies to test at that capacity.
