2020 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

I think he’d take the ND job if it opened.

If Day went to the NFL, he could come back to OSU.

Only other job I could see is Cincinnati, his alma mater and where his son is a walk on.

I don't think I'm interested in that. His baggage compounds by returning here. Hopefully the program is prepared for the next step when Day makes his departure. And hopefully it doesn't come all that soon, as I love what we've seen from him obviously.

Agree. Don’t think it’s likely; but outside of ND, I think OSU is the most likely other spot

Depending on how long Day is here, I could legitimately see Brian Hartline as the next HC, if that's something that interests him. He'd be more of a CEO-type, ala Dabo Swinney, but he clearly has serious chops as a recruiter and loves Ohio State. Obviously would be incredibly risky with no prior HC experience.

Was wondering about this as well.

hopefully not a topic we have to visit for a long time but the Day to NFL rumors look like ones we sill have to endure throughout his tenure, ala the LBJ rumors.

Texas forums are hysterical reading. They have randos posting it’s a done deal. Utter chaos.

The way Day has recruited, and the team seems to be generally well prepared, I hope he stays for a long time. I get that Urban is also a great recruiter and a master motivator, but Day is younger and seems to have a handle on things. Hope he knows he too can build his own legacy at OSU.

The Zach Wilson as a dark horse 1st round pick hype is taking a hit tonight.

THey play a legit team and he's looking extremely average.

I understand everyone should be allowed bad games, but considering this is the only competition they've played this year, it's not a game he could really afford imo.

That said someone still probably just falls in love with his arm talent and drafts him in the 1st anyway. Mistake imo.

I'm curious how this draft plays out from a league perspective. There are 3(?) QBs that are basically 2nd round picks. But the NFL today pretty much elevates any QB with the slightest potential to a first round pick (or super high 2nd).

Clemson in another dog fight vs juggernaut VaTech.

My source (longtime friend that is connected with high-profile OSU officials due to family business - have mentioned this before) tells me that Shelley is 100% opposed to Urban coaching again and that they're very happy here. The money would have to be extremely lucrative for him to even consider another job and if that, would likely only go to a place of his choosing. He holds all the clout here.

Take that FWIW. I think the dream scenario would have to open up for him to return in the next few years, e.g., Kelly flirting with the NFL and the Notre Dame job becoming available. Something a little fluky but certainly not out of the realm of possibility in this era of CFB.

Well, if anyone can offer him lucrative money it would be Texas. So that doesn’t really rule anything out.
