2020 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Incredibly weird timing with the re-vote happening any day now, but he could always opt back in. Wyatt Davis has already said he probably would if the fall season is reinstated.

What is the point of declaring early? Just trying to avoid practice injury or something?

Lots of reasons, but both Wade and Davis specifically cited being tired of the Big 10's bullshit.

I don't blame them one bit. If I was in their position I would have said "fuck this" a loooong time ago.

In fairness to these guys, there has been an awful lot of "Wait! There is new testing/better protocols/changing sentiment, etc., etc. etc.,..." going on for pretty much a month at this point.

Oh I completely agree...like I said in my previous post, I don't blame him one bit. If I was him I would have dipped a long time ago with all this bullshit going on.

Yeah, even if the Big 10 were to say we are playing Oct 17, I could see Davis and Wade both saying, that doesn't really mean shit after everything that's happened.

They announced a 10 game schedule prior 2 days before cancelling the season.

I think if they were to come back, and start working towards a season, and the season were to be cancelled again in 3-4 weeks, they'd feel they had wasted 3-4 weeks of training towards the combine.

I think Justin Fields is a different situation in that he wants to soak up as much knowledge and experience playing under Day as possible before going to the NFL. So even if they were to cancel in a month, it'd at least been a month of training under Day. I think Fields views as much time with Day as a benefit prior to leaving for NFL. I don't think a CB or Guard have the same mindset.

I get that the Big Tens response has been dog shit so I understand that. As far as opting out I still don’t get it from any other level. Ohio State has proven to produce stud DBs and OL. They are being coached by NFL guys on a day to day and continue to improve at Ohio State on OSUs dime. Other than making a headline I guess I just don’t get the early declaration? I need a doubt they’re going to work on their combine drills in September of 2020 also neither are currently signing with agents.

I think it's a combination of being sick of the Big 10 and also trying to pressure them into making a damn decision.

I can't link but apparently Minnesota's official football twitter asked "when was the last time the season started in October"
