2020 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So Wisconsin would beat the shit out of OSU because the killed a team that is about as good as 2 other teams OSU as roughly as badly?

That’s not how logic works.

Logic only applies if that's what I said.

I said at the very least. I was trying to be generous. Of course if the line for the Michigan/Rutgers game is Michigan -22, as was what Ohio State was able to do, I would be tempted to take Michigan depending on what else is going on.

Wisconsin looked like they would beat Ohio State right now because they're always in position on defense, their front stops the run, and their QB can exploit a weak Ohio State secondary. Unless, as I also said, the Buckeyes can improve before they play them.

It wouldn't be a Buckeye season without Prime shitposting about the team, only to end up with egg all over his face by season's end and him nowhere to be found.

Buckeyes will beat every team on their schedule by double digits, including the Big Ten West Champion, again.

Some eyes will be opened next week when this team curb stomps Indiana.

I'm not sure how you can watch Justin Fields and conclude that any B1G team could beat the shit out of us. Wisconsin looks real good though, especially in their current circumstances. Doubt this is the year they knock us off, but hats off to 'em if they do.

Indiana game will likely determine the narrative of the season. How we win or if we lose (and how mad can I be to let Indiana have a season of dreams?) will shift how everyone feels about us and the conference as a whole. And frankly, we need to see this D get tested before we face the real competition.

Still sucks that we didn't get to play this weekend, as Maryland was a somewhat quality opponent and hilarity continued to ensue throughout the league.

Salivating for that Michigan matchup at this point, gonna be another fun one.

I have no doubt IU will score a bit a la 21-28 points. Penix is a lock to make a few ill-advised throws and they absolutely do not have a secondary or pass rush capable slowing down or stifling Fields, Olave and Wilson. Fields has too much time to throw and he’s been an absolute terror with his deep ball. Ffs dude has just as many touchdown passes as incompletions.

Games of Great Import:

App St @ Coastal Carolina - These teams are a combined 13-1. Winner likely wins the Sun Belt East.

Clemson @ FSU - Clemson gets another stiff test as FSU comes in at [checks notes].....oh wow. Nevermind.

Indiana @ OSU - Winner gets a big leg up in the B1G East.

Indiana is legit a solid team. Michael Penix is a very solid QB with a big arm and can run. His accuracy can wane at times. But he's got really good skill players in Whop Philyor, Tye Fryefogel, Peyton Henderson and Stevie Scott. Indiana will score points.

Their defense has been solid, but they've lived on an unsustainable turnover rate. Fields is gonna have a big game, and might be forced to play most of the game given Indiana's offense. Might be like a 55-28 type game.

Wisconsin @ NW - The OTHER battle of B1G unbeatens. Winner here takes control of the West. Wisconsin has looked great against to, um, bad teams. NW has won 3 straight 1 score games, but has at least played teams with a pulse.

Oklahoma St @ Oklahoma - Oklahoma can't really sustain another conference loss and feel good about making the B12CG. Okie State still only has 1 loss, so not out of the CFP picture entirely.

Wisconsin hasnt beaten Ohio State since 2010. Prime is just full of awful takes.

Good call.

Good call.

You're not proven right. Your comment was that Wisconsin would stomp Ohio State. Well, Indiana lost the game my dude.

And currently, Wisconsin has all they can handle with Northwestern.

LIke I was saying, it's 14-7 at the half, Northwestern.

Ohio State had a bad game today. But it was a top 10 team. And while almost no one seeingly believes Indiana is that good, maybe they actually are?

It's very hard to judge any team this season with no non-conference games.

Now, does Ohio State have major, major problems in the secondary? Obviously.

But Alabama gave up 40+ to Ole Miss. Clemson has given up a lot of points this year too. Ohio State can still win a title....but only if Justin Fields is a truly elite player. Whatever that was today, that won't get it. We don't have the defense to overcome that consistently.

I will say this: there was some chatter this week on ESPN morning shows about maybe Justin FIelds challenging Lawrence for the 1st pick.

That's dead. Fields needs to move on from that and not let it bother him.

No I wasn't. Nor was I proven wrong. I was right about the defense though. And he was proven wrong. His prediction of double digit victories didn't last a week.

Whatever Wisconsin does against Northwestern is almost irrelevant because Ohio State's defense isn't half as good as Northwestern's.

Ohio State won, so the season is still alive. And to win a national championship, they don't have to have a great defense. Just a defense that doesn't give up 500 yards and 35 points to Indiana. Or 27 to Rutgers. Get a little better than that and they'll have a chance. Playing the way they are, they don't. That was my point.

Honestly, I know Coombs can recruit, but they needed to bring in an actual coach for that side of the ball. I hope they figure it out. Bowl season sucks when they're not playing for anything.
