2020 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I would argue JK is the best pass catcher.
Taylor the most patient.
Swift the best pass protector and has a good combo of both.

I think teams will have a mix of rankings on their board depending on scheme. The Chiefs particularly should have Taylor and Dobbins the highest, I really think either would thrive in that zone scheme and wide open attack.

Not as deep at RB than WR, but some exciting guys in the middle rounds.

Zach Moss is a guy I like a lot.
LaMical Perine

I’ll bucket based on an athletic profile developed after the combine, but I’d imagine the Browns will be in this market in the later rounds/UDFA.

How worried should teams be about Taylor's fumble issues? 18 fumbles in 41 games is somewhat alarming and it was an issue that plagued Taylor over each of his 3 years.

Would weigh enormously on the team drafting him to fix that or at least determine if it can be.

Think it pushes him to round two.

We've gone from "Becton would be a great 2nd or 3rd round pick" to "Becton probably won't be there at 10"

Which is fine, but damn did his stock soar in this process. It will only rise higher at the combine when he breaks every record he can possibly break.

Just means more Andrew Thomas and Tristan Wirfs for the Browns, though.

Great. Pump the athletes up. Give me the football players.

Wow. That guy was beastly. Was the DE from Clemson supposed to be good?

Becton is absolutely and 100% a football player.

His game tape against Clemson is maybe the best I've seen in this class. He was dominant.
I don't mean to insinuate that he's not--it's just that I'll take the technicians who play above their athletic profile. Give me guys like Joe Thomas, Chris Borland, etc. In the draft process, they tend to be undervalued a bit, while athletic potential is overvalued. Coaching staffs in the NFL like to think that they can always polish the prospect, or coach them up. I think that learning how to play football the right way is a skill that isn't addressed enough.

Becton's a beast. He might turn out to be the next Tyron Smith, but so could have Greg Robinson. If Becton goes before us, leaving Thomas there at our pick, I'd be ecstatic

He sort of DOES play above his athletic profile.

For a guy his size, he's not supposed to move that fluidly through his kickstep. His hand work and punch are quick and powerful. That's not all natural, that is learned.

The deciding factor in his evaluation should be ability to learn and understanding his competitive drive. Because his qualities are rare.

If a team thinks he can work hard to keep himself balanced and distribute his weight evenly on a more consistent basis, he's absolutely worth taking in the Top 10, regardless of which other tackles go off the board before him.

I'll take your word for it. From the videos you posted of him (which is still all I've watched on him) I saw an athlete who doesn't do a lot of what makes a tackle great in the NFL--specifically with his hands.

But hey, I was high on Desmond Harrison's potential so what do I know?

The mock drafts are starting to ooze into the mainstream:

I don't actually like mock drafts this early in the process, but I'm interested to see where the top four OTs and Simmons are falling.

I think if you have a shot at Simmons, you take him and forget about needs elsewhere until day two. He would eventually make the middle of the field a strength for the defense, whether or not Shobert returns.

For the OTs, I don't have a strong tendency and probably won't until the combine measurements. Thomas from Georgia is actually a better tackle than he was last year, so it's not like his arrow is pointing down... he just isn't the new flashy name. I can see Becton making a late push into OT#1 if he shows well in the combine. I don't hold it against Will's or Wirfs that they played the right side in college. The most prudent plan for the Browns might be signing an older veteran LT in free agency then drafting a future replacement to play the right side for two or three years.

Jalen Reagor, dynamic as it gets from the WR position.

There's a ton of special teams stuff in there, and after the catch--but very few routes where I can see what's going on. Combine that with the fact that his competition is the future gym teachers of America and I really don't know what I'm looking at. I'm guessing speed around 4.37-4.43, with pretty good agility, but kinda raw as a receiver?

He can clean up a bit with body movements or any false steps, playing alongside Odell and Jarvis would be perfect for it.

But he's got some good basics:

That sluggo route doesn't impress me. The Dino route looks fine--but it's more of a disaster on the DB's part. If he's shaking NFL-caliber DB's like that, then I'll take notice.

I kinda wish I had all-22 footage of the play that begins at 0:31 of the youtube video you provided. That jumped off the tape to me as this guy might have special deep threat ability--but he's also playing against Arkansas Pine Bluff.
