2020 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Does anybody have guesses on what highly rated prospects will unexpectedly fall in this year's draft (Greedy, Wilson, Polite, Metcalf)? Delpit appears to be losing stock fast.

Jonathan Taylor is a fantastic RB prospect who may fall to the third. Easily the best in the class. He's like Chubb without the knee injury. The dude rushed for over 2000 yards his sophomore and junior years and was 23 yards short as a true freshman. He's a monster and it's absurd that multiple backs may go before him.

I'm assuming trading UP to ensure one of the top tackles is out of the question? Not sure who would want to bite.

I do not see a scenario where this front office is giving up top 75 picks for just about any reason.

I think trading back from 10 is significantly more likely than trading up from 10.

Moving up from 41 a few spots and using something like 97 to do is something I could see possibly.

Just not sure Cleveland or Jones are the difference makers we are looking for. Not a huge fan of Becton either but I’m also not an O line guru.

I know Wirfs is probably a no go for us but I’d like to get Thomas or Wills then if that is the case.

I'll be honest, the Browns don't need another Joe Thomas. Hell, all we really needed was good enough Greg Robinson to be really good in 2018.

I love Cleveland and I'm all in on him in a trade down. Jones scares the crap out of me, though.

I actually think it's less likely the higher rated prospects slide this year given the nature of the lead up. Since almost no one had pro-days this year, the only times that a team would've seen a guy in person is if they went to scout him, if he was at one of the all-star games, or if he got an invite to the combine.

A lot of the smaller school guys that likely would've impressed in pro days or the guys coming off of injuries might slide since teams weren't able to further evaluate them in person. There's also plenty of guys that opt to only do measurements at the combine and wait until their pro day to workout, so they never got to do that.

I think there's going to end up being some real value in rounds 3-4 because of this. The teams that invested scouting time and those that have reliable analytics will probably greatly benefit from this. Hopefully we can say that's the Browns.

Im betting Delpit

Lucas Niang, for me.

would prob be a top2 tackle without injuries; teams won’t get a chance to clear him, and he’ll tumble. Dudes incredibly talented. Someone’s gunna get a steal.

I agree with you - the lack of top 30 visits will also hurt these smaller school guys. Don't see many Drew Forbes-type guys getting drafted this year. UDFA will be interesting at least.

Guys with poor combines wont' get a chance to redeem themselves at their pro day either. Brown, Dantzler, Anae, and Shenault come to mind.

Aside, I'm guessing the guys below slide. Cannot wait for the draft - I'm desperate for some component of sports to emerge:
  • Becton - too much of a media darling. Off-the-charts athleticism but tape has some concerns. Think more accurate value is middle of the first.
  • Brown Jr. - poor combine and needs work to prove himself as a pass rusher. I wouldn't be surprised if he slides out of top-10.
  • Espensa - again, underwhelming combine. Doesn't demonstrate the athleticism needed to be a threat in the pass rush. Think he slides to late second, perhaps third.
  • Uche - I'm a little surprised how early in the second I've seen him going. He barely played in his first three years, and was still rather part-time in his senior year at scUM. One-year of production doesn't do much for me, especially given how he was absolutely dominated by Wirfs, his best competition during the year.
  • McKinley - I think he will slide to the second round due to players jumping him into the first. I wouldn't be shocked if Chinn is the first safety off the board.
  • Delpit - tackling concerns and lack of combine/pro day will cause him to slide. My guess is 4th safety off the board.
  • Dugger - no real reason in particular other than he reminds me of Adderly in that he had gained a lot of hype post-senior bowl and was ultimately drafted in a relatively fair spot.
  • Edwards-Helaire - second round predictions seem too high given there are four better running backs, and his lack of both size and speed. Think he follows the same trend as Guice and slips.

I watched him a lot because I'm an Ohio State fan, but I wonder if people truly understand how good Chase Young really is as a player.

For my money, he's the best EDGE to come out in recent memory. The perfect blend of elite athlete and flawless technique.

Thomas also had a Zoom call with Browns coach Kevin Stefanski and they discussed his wide zone scheme, something Thomas ran a lot at Georgia.

“He was saying me being athletic is something that they like as far being able to open up holes in the wide zone,’’ he said.

Damn, the last 5 mocks I have seen have all been Becton. That train is really choo'ing:

10. Cleveland Browns: Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville

The Browns signed right tackle Jack Conklin to a three-year deal in free agency, but there is still a huge need at left tackle. A mountain of a man at 6' 7" and 364 pounds with vines for arms (35 5/8"), the 20-year-old Becton has work to do on technique, but he has unique movement skills for a man his size.

41. Cleveland Browns: Antoine Winfield Jr., S, Minnesota

74. Cleveland Browns: Jordyn Brooks, LB, Texas Tech

97. Cleveland Browns (via HOU): Darrell Taylor, EDGE, Tennessee

115. Cleveland Browns: Larrell Murchison, IDL, North Carolina State

and then @jking948 posted that while this post was being made and TOTALLY LIFTED MY TABLE a few inches!
