2020 Lineup Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Notable from Zach Meisel's latest piece: Elsewhere on the recovery front: Tyler Naquin is aiming to return as close to Opening Day as possible. He walked through the halls of the convention center without a limp on Saturday, and he said he has started running and hitting in recent weeks.

Naquin being healthy would be a game-changer to me. Initial reports last year were that it'd be July before we saw him.

Kluber was horrible in his limited time. I don't see how trading him downgrades the rotation as compared to last year.

Kluber was horrible - well that's debatable. He has been phenomenal in the past and to completely disregard him going forward would be foolish. It absolutely is a big loss for the rotation.

With that said, we still have a strength there on paper.

Or Luplow plays almost every day and Naquin platoons with Deshields.

Naquin had pretty even splits - if he's healthy, I think he's earned an every day role.

Yeah, I’d like him and Luplow playing almost every day.

So, there’s room for a third part time guy to rotate in with those two in some way.

Wonder if we'd have interest in Garcia?

I wouldn't call a Naquin/Luplow platoon great.
Naquin vs RHP and Luplow vs LHP in 2019 combined:

378 PA
.300/.365/.563
20 HR

Naquin and Luplow overall in 2019 combined:
555 PA
.283/.339/.505
25 HR
3.7 fWAR

Their overall combined numbers (not just their strong splits) were actually very similar to Lindor's season numbers.

If you're getting that out of one spot in your order, you're doing pretty great.
