2020 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Some of the Tribe Minor League Free Agents. Thanks to Indians Prospective for posting..

Indians Prospective
@indiansPro

#Indians MiLB players free agent eligible 1st time
RHP Argenis Angulo
OF Jodd Carter
C Kungkuan Giljegjaw
C Gianpaul Gonzalez
RHP Henry Martinez
INF Andruw Monasterio
RHP Jared Robinson
LHP Randy Valladares

Indians likely have already extended a minor league contract with an invite to spring training to most of those guys. (Angulo, Giljegiljaw, Martinez, Monasterio and Robinson, I am pretty sure they want to keep for depth purposes at least for AA/AAA)

Until the news about the 2021 minor league setup is announced, I don't believe it is right to start the 2021 Minor League Thread.

That said, some places are already posting top prospect listings for next year already. So I will share the info here for other fans to review/ discuss/ debate..
This is free/ open source info. Enjoy.

Speaking of the minor league setup..... some more "unofficial" news leaking out..

https://ballparkdigest.com/2020/11/02/details-of-mlb-takeover-of-milb-emerge/

The following recap is via another site/ poster.. I am curious how it plays out for Lake County (Midwest League) & Lynchburg (Carolina League) with the Tribe.

Big changes at High A and Low A:

Low A
Cali League - eight teams
Florida State League - ten teams (two teams cut; probably still Daytona and Florida getting dropped)
Sally League - twelve teams

High A
Midwest League
Northwest League (six teams)
Carolina League
New Mid-Atlantic League

AA
Only thing reported in the article is that Brooklyn is still expected to move to the Eastern League, that the Marlins are expected to get Pensacola, and then the result of the AAA shuffling (below), which we've heard before.

AAA
Out: Fresno (dropped to Low A Cali League), San Antonio and Wichita (dropped to AA Texas League)
In: Jacksonville (Marlins), St. Paul (Twins), Sugar Land (didn't say, but presumably the Astros)

Pioneer League still has nothing on what their future holds.

The site stressed that nothing is finalized and could change from this reporting, but this is roughly what MLB is shooting for right now.

So, short season leagues won't be in effect going forward.. perhaps what is done in Mahoning may be better served by a summer league at Spring Training sites.. IDK.. just a notion..

Tweet from IndiansProspective today re: Lynchburg... Something to keep an eye on moving forward..

Very curious to see what happens w/ #Indians minor league affiliate in Lynchburg. Hearing the Hillcats have pared down staff & might not be able to meet new MiLB facility requirements set by MLB.

Wish they could bring them to Mahoning valley

Updated info today via Baseball America..

from Matt Eddy

The new Class A structure is going to take some getting used to.
***HIGH A
Mid-Atlantic (a newly created league)
Midwest
Northwest

***LOW A
California
Carolina/South Atlantic
Florida State
------------------------------------------

Assuming this is accurate, Lake County could be the Tribe High A while Lynchburg (or another spot) would be the lower full season A ball affiliate..

Hope Lynchburg is moved to mahoning valley

Unless the training facilities in Mahoning Valley are much better then the other NY-Penn league locations, I suspect there is little chance of a full season MiLB team being located there.

If I can locate the BA tweet that spelled out the facility requirements for all full season affiliates, I will edit it in.

Edit: here you go...

Cleveland #Indians will only field (1) Arizona Rookie League team moving forward for the 2021 season.

For those unaware: for the past few years the Tribe has fielded 2 teams at its Arizona complex...
