2020 NBA Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
In the NBA yeah, but certainly not in the NCAA. What do you think happens to Skyenga and all the other great athletes who can't quite make it in the NBA? They don't retire and become accountants...
Athletes certainly gets bigger & better the higher the level. Then again, I understand Avidja wasn’t getting very many minutes at the highest level of Euroleague play. Maybe Avidja plans out, but he’s not all the different from a guy like Mario Hezonja, who was also a plus athlete in Europe.

Eyenga was super raw and a projection pick based on being a very good athlete. He had very little actual basketball skill.

Hezonja's stats in Europe were certainly nothing special. Per 40 minutes, he averaged 1.0 free throws, 0.9 offensive rebounds, 0.3 blocks. Those aren't the numbers of a guy who's dominating the competition athletically. I just brought up Eyenga to make the point that a lot of elite athletes end up playing in Europe. Maybe 30 years ago European teams were full of unathletic white guys, but that's certainly not the case today.

As I recall, Eyenga was playing for some small second division team in Spain when we drafted him. I just see a lot of similarities between Avidja and guys like Hezonja & Vesely. Doesn’t mean he’ll be a bust, but I think there’s some reason for concern

I'm far from his biggest fan on here...I think the combination of low free throw rate and low offensive rebound rate suggest that he won't be able to put pressure on the defense in the NBA, and may be better suited for a 3rd/4th option glue guy role. That doesn't excite me drafting at #5 overall. But none of the reasons I dislike him have to do with him playing in Europe. If he put up the same numbers in the NCAA, I'd be similarly lukewarm on him as a prospect.

And yeah, Eyenga was totally unproven when we drafted him. But since then, he's had a nice 10-year international career playing for various teams, and there are many others like him (great athletes whose skills are just a little too raw for the NBA, so they play in Europe instead).

Yeah right there. I think he will stick in the NBA, but should be drafted in roleplayer territory 15-25

Found out this shit is tonight from The Daily Beast's crossword puzzle. Haven't paid a lick of attention to the NBA at all.

Saw on Twitter Trending Topics that one of the prospects admitted he doesn't like basketball that much. Gonna go ahead and assume the Cavs pick that guy.
