Looks better Nathan :D

Haliburton is my top pick even though I have been riding with Okoro. I just think there is no way they take him. His defense is as good as advertised and he is the perfect fit with Sexton. He'd solve most of our backcourt issues.

A lot of big boards have him in the top 5, but no one wants to take him. Silly IMO

Great work. What it is about your formula that pushes down some guys we’ll likely see go in round 1 into the tier 5, and next 10 groupings: I’m thinking specifically of Nesmith, Bey, Precious, Obi, and Tyrell Terry.

Regardless of what the predictive modeling computes, do you see those 5 as unlikely to be good NBA players?

Different factors for different players:

Nesmith has one thing going for him, his shooting, and a lot of things going against him (questionable athleticism, injury, horrible assist:TO). Out of all of them, I think he's most likely to bust.

Bey it sees as a fairly low-risk low-reward kind of player. I've previously compared him to Cedi, and I think he'll have a similar kind of career. Out of all of them, I think he's most likely to have a quality career.

Achiuwa's lack of shooting and horrible assist:TO numbers hurt him a lot. Skills are just too raw, especially considering that he's a year old for a freshman.

Toppin it sees as a boom/bust guy who basically needs 100% of his scoring to translate to make up for his weak all-around game. I think there's a small chance he becomes a ~25ppg scorer who makes a few All-Star games but is only a mild positive overall due to his defense. A larger chance that he's just a 15ppg scorer, and at that point the scoring isn't enough to justify having him on the court considering his weaknesses elsewhere.

Terry it sees as hopelessly overmatched physically, and I tend to agree. Just 170 pounds and a 6'2" wingspan at the combine, which is rough for a PG and hopeless for a SG. Pretty modest results in the athleticism testing too, where you'd hope a tiny guard like him might impress.

If we ended up with 23 from Knicks, I will hope for Tyler Bey at that pick

Paul Eboua is really worth a closer look if you like athletic wings...his combine numbers are insane. May be the one guy in the draft with legit potential to guard 1-5.

Only two people I want at 5.....either Toppin or Haliburton. If not then trade down

I really hope the Cavs don't waste this pick on Toppin. I feel like he's the kind of player I take at 15-18 in the average draft but this draft has about 15 people that fit into that range.
Pretty sure this was the knock on Rui Hachimura last year, too. I disagree and think Obi is the 'glue' this team needs.

Given the rumors prior to the draft of our ties to Toppin and Knicks wanting to trade up, wonder if there’s a possibility a trade happens? I’d rather keep Okoro, but nothing would surprise me at this point.

Not sure what it’d take to get a pick, but I’d love to get Halliburton too. Really if we could somehow come away with Precious, Vassell, or Halliburton I’d be pretty happy overall. Given how much we apparently talked to Boston, maybe something can happen at 14?

Not bad.

I would love to see Haliburton or Avdija getting picked though. But 'they' know way more than we do.

Wolves got 2 1st rounders plus Rubio for #17. I'm sure Cavs didn't even enquire. Getting Rubio could be good.
