I’m a fan of Reed also. I will definitely be checking out some DePaul games, as Romeo Weems is a legit NBA body wing who can pass it a little. Just needs the jumper, and he will be quite the player.
I could see Reed getting back end first round looks if his shooting holds up, though I think there’s greater odds of him being a late second or even undrafted. The handling flashes are impressive, but I’d suspect teams are going to wait to see if his shooting holds up. He took some shots off the dribble last year, and has a nice high release, but mechanically things are stiff which makes me expect his shooting numbers to fall off some. My biggest issue with him is his decision making, though. Can definitely put up some bad shots, and passing vision is a big issue. His defense is pretty hit and miss, but the impact he makes is pretty obvious. I’ll be curious to see what kind of offensive load he can handle with Strus gone, as well as if his shooting/playmaking for others can be consistent. A very interesting player that I’m sure may benefit some from the success of Giannis/Siakam/Other NBA coordinated wings that have had success of late - though not that level of player, of course.
Florida State played last night, and they of course always seem to have NBA ready size wings/forwards that are intriguing. Devin Vassell really really stood out for me... I assumed coming into this year that he was a clear cut 3&D wing, but he hit some shots off the bounce last night that really caught my eye. I’d recommend checking him out if you haven’t already. If he gets more ball handling reps like this with Mann gone and plays well, he is really going to shoot up draft boards. I know others like Raiquan Gray as well from FSU, who is a big body forward that could eventually shoot it (your prototypical FSU forward, right?). I’ve not watched him much yet to form an opinion on him yet, though.
