2020 NBA Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He is so like Mikal Bridges it's not even funny. His ball handling and burst are severely lacking as well as his ability to finish inside. I really like his ability to play the passing lanes, he has quick hands and great anticipation and ability as far as shot blocking goes. But that almost always never makes a wing a star, but rather a high level role player. I also put emphasize on frame when looking for star talent at the wing position, and his frame is severely lacking.

I don't think at this point in time we need a high level role player. Hopefully.
Yeah I mean if we can get a higher upside option that at least has a similar floor I am all in, just not crazy about passing up on high floor 2 way players for the likes of ones with more question marks at least not if there are none left with much more upside either. I guess once the lottery takes place they can weight the options and maybe trade out if they dont love anybody

I would agree that we need something more than a high-level role player. But our need doesn't magically create the player we want in a weak draft, and overlooking the bust potential in some other higher ceiling guy wouldn't be good either.

We need a bust even less that we need a high-end role player.

I would like to see us get another pick somehow and draft one of Saddiq Bey/Patrick Williams/Jalen Smith.. whoever slips down

I thinks a 2nd pick in a "weak draft" can lead to some interesting outcomes. I do think there are essentially similar number of guys as a regular draft, it is just more hidden, that/those guys haven't clearly indicated who they are.

Add to that the below average amount of tape and access this year, someone is slipping and will be available. We should try to capitalize. Love what they did late in the 1st last year. I want to see that as much as possible during the rebuild

Paul Reed is the guy I am looking at. Underrated. Could be a guy like Clark who is a little older and overlooked but basketball people see the skills. Older players with potential are no bueno to me, but older players with skills...

Per-100 comparison between Edwards and (college) Sexton on offense:

Sexton: 36.5 points (57% true shooting, .45/.34/.78 splits), 6.9 assists, 5.3 turnovers, 1.9 offensive rebounds

Edwards: 32.1 points (52% true shooting, .40/.29/.77 splits), 4.8 assists, 4.6 turnovers, 1.4 offensive rebounds

I'm having a hard time seeing the fit if we draft him, given that he's basically a poor man's Sexton offensively.

Sexton prob wouldn't go ahead of him in this draft due to size I would guess. Yeah, I dunno my mind would be blown if they drafted him

We need to think of ways to get a pick late as well. Adding a shooter like Nesmith would be great if Windler doesn't set his feet on a court again.

sure but all 3 are commonly mocked lower than they will probably be taken.
I think some undervalued names to watch as late 1st early 2nd targets are TyShon ALexander ,Nico Mannion,Tyler Bey,Nate Hinton,D.Oturu,P.Reed,X.Tillman and Grant Riller.
also wouldnt mind them taking a flier on boom busts like J.McDaniels or C.Stanley if either drop to the 30s

Signing Jordan Bell and Wade makes me think they are not going to draft a big.

While I don’t think the Cavs will hesitate to draft a guard depending on their overall board and where their pick falls, I believe 100% conviction that the signings of Bell and Wade will have ZERO affect on who they draft and would not prevent them in any way from taking Wiseman or another big as well.

Historically though they haven't drafted bigs. Some people think you should worry about getting a Lillard or Leonard with drafting and just get bigs as free agents or trades. Theis this year told us something about not spending the money on Bigs, but loading up on Wings and guards. I think Imostly agree with that philosophy.

Which recent star big man would you take over Luka, Tatum, or Morant? I'd say Zion, but he is a combo forward or just something else entirely.

Now, yes we are currently spending the most on those positions, but that is while our other positions are all on rookie deals.

Bell is an odd signing imo, brings some energizer bunny motor and athleticism to help replace some of the loss of TT which this is more of a sign of imo than draft priorities but Bell really doesn't do much at all to contribute to winning basketball offensively.
Wade getting a deal is a smart move and also just opens up 2-way roster spots. I do like his floor as a young player and might be a nice rotation player for us long term if he can stay healthy.

And why mess with what's worked so well!? :chuckle:

Deni Avdija led Tel Aviv in minutes played today, picking up 11 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Casspi didn't play, giving Avdija all the small forward minutes he can handle. Nice that something of consequence happened today!
