Correct, Casspi had the ass surgically removed from his fingers. I'm just specifying why he is getting huge minutes.
I believe the Euroleague still carry a mandatory percentage of their roster who are nationals, so Casspi and Avdija being Israelis who can actually play gives them more value for Maccabi. I feel like the Cavs franchise have avoided drafting wings for the past two decades because they are usually projects at age 19 or 20, but the team needs to figure out how to get a few on the roster.
Casspi sucks
He’s so bad we somehow got rid of JJ Hickson and still lost the tradeHey, that's NBA champion Omri Casspi - albeit not on the end-of-season playoff roster during GS's '18 season, just won a ring for contribution during the season i.e. what Varejao refused for '16.

After watching more tape / listening to smart people......
I'm softening on Edwards. There are several people I trust in the NBA that just love that kid. When @Derek mentioned the Crean anecdote, I reached out to a few people I used to work with........their consensus opinion was that it's possible Edwards is the guy teams are going to miss on based on a small college sample and wonder why he went 3rd or 4th in a draft like this.
One of the scouts I know predicted the Warriors are going to take him......which kind of caught me off guard. I think I can probably say the team but I'll be careful.....I'll post it in S34 if there ends up being an appropriate draft thread.....but this is a consensus great org and they were adamant Edwards was the best player. Re: GSW possibly sniffing around......(scouts) thought was Edwards and Klay are big enough guys to be interchangeable at the 2/3......and Edwards is a good ball handler and underrated passer....then I started to sort of get nauseous at the return back to where the Warriors have a player who can win 1:1 on the perimeter, while pushing Steph off ball at times, yuck.....but I do see it.
Those anecdotes are nice but the one reason I have really softened on Edwards was: All 3 scouts independently RAVED about the kids attitude and work ethic. The one direct quote was "Very few kids with his talent are 100% coachable, he is".....another said "That kid is in the gym everyday. I don't know if he is going to be a star.....but it won't be from lack of effort". If that ends up being the case, it is pretty easy to talk yourself in to Edwards, especially in a draft like this. His mix of youth / frame / raw athleticism and work ethic are exactly the types you swing for the fences on.
I think there's a roadmap that makes sense in a Sexton / Edwards pairing.......just two guys that are hyper athletic and work hard......Move Garland for a future pick or a 3&D wing. I don't know that the Cavs have any sort of appetite for that but I was intrigued by the work ethic / attitude / coachability scorecard on Edwards and how similar that is to Collin.
I still am really undecided on this draft though........I'm curious to see what kind of draft process there is.......and if there isn't a good one, I still just tend to value guys that have far more certainty (Okungwu, Haliburton).......but enough people (who have good NBA track records) are chirping about Edwards, that I think he's possibly a guy you don't weigh down quite as much with the data.

What position would he play here? Are you thinking Sexton PG, Edwards SG, or Sexton SG, Edwards SF, and trade for a PG?
The Trailblazers always have a long third guard to go with their short back court - Hood, Turner and Crabbe before. The reality is, Sexton and Garland aren't going to be a starting back court if and when the Cavs are contenders. Ideally only one would be out there except for short spurts.
The key here is whether the Cavs believe Nance can handle a majority of the small forward minutes, or if he is a power forward being forced out of position.
So, like Sexton-Edwards-Nance on the perimeter? The big issue there as far as I can tell is that Sexton may not be a good enough facilitator to run the offense, and having (yet another) rookie partner in the backcourt doesn't make his job easier. Easy to imagine that the offense ends up being an ugly mix of 40% iso ball, 60% poorly-executed sets.
I see Sexton as an undersized shooting guard who can't really run an offense. I'm not advocating for Edwards, I think he is a terrible fit, but adding a guard with plus size down the line is smart. I'm hopeful Porter fills the role, but despite great progress this season I am not ready to trust him. Obviously Windler needs to actually get on the court before we can talk about his role.
Apparently we wont even meet with Hayes, I'm starting to think he's the best player in the draft the more I watch him so that kinda sucksCompletely agree that adding a guard with plus size should be a priority, and agree that it wouldn't necessarily impede KPJ's development either. We're fortunate that there are lots of big guards some degree point guard skills (Ball, Hayes, Haliburton, even Hampton if we trade down). Unless we do something wild like trade Sexton, I don't see how we make Edwards work here.
He might be the highest floor point guard on paper with his nice offensive skillset, but he lacks in some areas that lean me to think he may be knocked down a few spots in ranking with high possibility he may not reach the ceiling many hope as a all around player. He does not have the athleticim to be an elite finisher in the NBA, often gets beat on defense etc.Apparently we wont even meet with Hayes, I'm starting to think he's the best player in the draft the more I watch him so that kinda sucks
