2020 NBA Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Super annoying as fans of a team that hasn’t played a game or even had a practice report on almost 6 months now.
We’ve got to wait another TWO months till the draft. Probably another 3 months until training camp and another 4 months until the new season starts.

Just in general terms, it is annoying, but I'm kind of excited to see which players make huge leaps from this extra time. It will hurt many but guys like Sexton were effectively given 2.5 off-seasons this year........for the workers, many could come back significantly better and stronger players. Ditto for the rookies. They have all been given a massive break to make decisions on things like mechanical fixes (Deni) and to get their bodies right. The combine should be some interesting TV if it actually happens.

The Minnesota Timberwolves own the first, 17th, and 33rd overall picks in the 2020 NBA Draft. Unfortunately for Wolves fans, though, the NBA has decided to postpone the event until mid-November, after it was originally scheduled for October 16th.

Drafted delayed.

I'm starting to buy into the Okongwu hype. He's very athletic for a guy his size, & decent length too.

However, if Avdija is there, he's the no brainer pick. We'd still need a big after that, & there's plenty projected in the late 1st, early 2nd ie: Isaiah Stewart, Jalen Smith, Reggie Perry, Aleksej Pokusevski, Paul Reed & Daniel Oturu. This is contingent on Wiseman not falling to us.

We should be able to get 1, maybe 2 of the guys on that list without giving up much. Passing on Okongwu shouldn't be an issue if we can get Stewart. They're similar players.

I see a little Jokic in Pokusevski. He's a very good ball handler, way above average for his position. I hope we can get him.

I can't disregard Toppin. I know his defense is an issue but he's the whole package on offense at power forward. Defense is all about effort, I think he can improve in that area.

I wonder about BOS asa potential trade partner. Ainge is always tinkering and if he has a player he really like, he’s not scared to try and make a jump into the top 5

We heard that the Cavs had a lot of interest in Romeo Langford last year. I wonder if they see Langford and Porter, Jr. as complementary or redundant? If they see Langford as a fit, I wonder if they’d be open to a deal with BOS

It could be small like Langford, 14, 26 for 5 (Langford would fit into the Clarkson trade exception)

Cavs could then try to move back up from 14 into the 7-11 range if they wanted.

Have you learned anything? You are suggesting a small market team enter trade talks with Boston?

The ESpin machine takes over negotiations and leaves your ass bloody, coated in Ainge's Mormon semen. Time and time again.

Sacramento and a blithering idiot for an owner is where it's at.

I don’t see the Celtics being really interested in anyone at the top other than maybe Wiseman or Toppin. I also can’t see how Langford of all people makes it worth dropping that far in the draft. The 26th pick isn’t worth much either. Seems like we’re getting a poo-poo platter for a top-5 pick. I would assume Koby could make much better use of the #5 pick than that.

Not to grind a dead horse into cadaverous meat paste, but I'd rather than Collin Sexton on the roster than Kyrie Irving.

Results can be debated, but the process cannot. The Cavs pointed out Isaiah was damaged goods. The Celtics and Boston media then used ESPN to make it seem like the deal was already done and the Celtics shouldn't give up anything else.

This after dealing with Kevin Love free agent/trade to the Celtics rumors every year all year the Cavs were contenders.

Process is all I need to know about dealing with the Celtics front office.

Yes...but what we don't know is if the Cavs went through with the deal anyway because of ESPN, or just because they still judged it to be the best deal available and the C's weren't willing to give up anything more than that extra pick. I think the Cavs placed huge value on that Nets pick, and weren't going to kill the deal because of IT. There's always going to be the speculation that "we could have gotten the Celtics to give up more", but that too is always going to be speculative. No way to know that.

Amazing that we were literally one Nets loss away from Luka.

I still feel like you are pushing the discussion towards results of the trade, when I'm saying "This franchise will do whatever it takes to make you cave to their demands." If the phone rings and it's Danny Ainge, I don't even want to pick it up. The system is rigged in their favor because of how they manipulate back channels.

It's crazy to look at their history in trades and free agency. They have only missed the playoffs ten times since 1980. In a system that is built towards forcing franchises to rebuild, theirs never lasts more than a season or two.

Even more insane: the Celtics have been around for nearly 75 years and they only missed the playoffs 17 times! We all know tampering through back channels happens a lot in the NBA, and we know a handful of franchises have done it for years without penalty... why deal with a franchise like that when you can deal with another smaller market where the tampering element will not be in play?

Because you don't turn down the best deal on the table just because it is with the Celtics.

Let me know when that happens.
