2020 NBA Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Nothing from nothing, but did anyone notice who the win share leader of the 2020 draft class is?...Tyrese Halliburton. Haliburton is averaging 27 mpg, 11 ppg, 4 apg and is shooting 53% from the floor and 50% from the 3 point line. That gives him a TS% of 71%.

It has always been my contention that a backcourt of Garland and Sexton is not viable in the long run, due to their height. Together, they will always represent a defensive liability. Eventually one of them will have to start at PG, and one will have to come off the bench or be traded.

So my theory was, why not draft one of the big PGs in this years draft to eventually start in the backcourt along with Sexton or Garland. Ball was my 1st choice, and Halliburton was my second choice and a player who would still be on the draft board at #5.

As it stands, I think the Cavs best bet in the long run will be to move Okoro to the starting SG spot, and either have Osman start at SF, or draft another defensive minded SF.

I love Haliburton. I thought he was a great fit with Sexton.

We couldn't have picked him with Garland and Sexton. The best choice IMHO would have been Avdija as he gives us flexibility at the 2-4 spot and is a really good defender.

I'm happy with Okoro and let's watch him develop.

Haliburton was off to a great start, but he is currently banged up with a bone bruise. He is their clear 6th man.

I think it's great the Kings got a heck of a sleeper at #12, they have a good fan base and deserve more success. That said, Okoro is a great fit. Advanced metrics on the defensive end are going to reveal his impact, especially being a swingman rather than a pure guard. There's just as reasonable chance that Okoro is rookie of the year as Haliburton because they both fill huge holes in the roster.

Okoro just played one week less than Haliburton.

The rookies as a whole are off to a great start, and I speculate it's because the pandemic gave them so much extra time to work on holes in their games before the draft.

Okoro was, is and will always be the best choice

I'm feeling very good about my top-2 of Ball and Haliburton

Haliburton advanced stats are fucking amazing...wtf. This dude looks like a sure fire star in his role.

Was he on the Cavs radar at all? I mean, considering the fact we had 2 pgs I doubt it, but..

I wasn’t against trading Garland for a pick to get him but he made no sense to just draft outright at 5

I wanted him. He was my #1 I knew we wouldn't take and Okoro was my #2 I thought we would.

I thought about a lot of trades to get both. Man, you could have had Haliburton anywhere between 5 and 12 with a 2nd lottery pick. I am cool with Garland, but I know Haliburton is the better all around guy. He was the guy the stats said we should take.

I think it is very possible Okoro ends up the better player, but Haliburton is a stats guy and an intangibles guy. He is a very good defender, but in a different mold.
