Anyone have any insight as to how he has been “grading” over the past couple weeks or so? Appreciate anything in advance.
I know last week he got whipped on one pass play. This week, I didn't notice any glaring misses.

Haven't done a deep dive into his play for a few weeks. I'm sure he has a few misses that I didn't notice, but I'd expect he's still on the trajectory to be one of the best tackles in football.

Certainly trending upward in an area of weakness the last three games. You could contribute it to Teller and Chubb being healthy as well but still, nice to see.

What is this Tweet using? PFF grades?

Eat that ass: Just noticed it at the bottom left corner. Yep, PFF. I... don't think they are good at evaluating offensive line play.

Agreed - their ratings seem all over the place when it comes to ranking O-line. I guess it's much tougher since it's more of a unit vs. grading an individual performance.

Regardless, this thread has been quiet as of late - no news is good news when it comes to Jed.

I'm more critical of PFF than most. I think there are few areas where they're valuable.

I like them as a single point among a sea of points. If you use them as THE indicator, I think you're going to have a bad time.

Ive been shouting this from the roof tops for years. Its literally a bunch of guys sitting around, trying to figure out what a play was supposed to be, and then determining if a player accomplished his goal for the play.

Its fucking mind boggling that anyone jumped on that train

Almost every NFL team uses PFF data

Also this is pretty much the job of the entire scouting department.

I'm wiling to bet that nearly every one of them uses it as a baseline. It's a "Hey, this is what the PFF guys think about this player." If a PFF grade stands out, they'll look back at that player to see if there's something they should note, or something they missed. I doubt they use it to make actual scouting decisions... unless you're the Bengals and your scouting department has been Kiper's Draft Guide.

Yes. Agreed. But that’s literally all it should ever be. People that denounce it tend to denounce it as the end all be all. But those who support it rarely treat it as such

It’s a data point from a company that has actual nfl credibility whos mission is to watch every snap of every play and evaluate it

Is it objective? No. Can it be swayed by individual preference and opinion? Yes. Is it worthless? Big fat no from me. Especially for fans like myself who watch the Browns and then 2 or 3 other games each week.

Who should I trust more, myself who watches no more than 3 games of every team each year (and isn’t watching with a scouts eye, has been drinking etc) or the guys who have created a company to try to unbiasedly grade every play of every game for every player? I think everyone would agree that Moz is pretty outmatched here.

People treating PFF as the gospel are overrating it, but I believe it is a powerful comparison tool for fans and I personally enjoy their product. I also don’t go into it with a score to settle though and I treat it for what it is. A useful data point but not rocket surgery
