Do you see anyone else

Just standing around

Literally didn’t even turn around to see if anyone was coming off the edge. the fact that this place is defending doing nothing as “knowing football” is genuinely embarrassing. Just such a bad take

He’s blocking the edge defender. No other person comes from the edge on this play.

After he lets him go, the ball should be gone. He can’t turn back to block the edge defender (penalty) and if he goes forward to block and JB throws you risk illegal man down field or OPI.

I agree on his laziness, this just isn’t the play you think it is.

Yes, Njoku was half assing it a bit too. Play got blown up.

Brissett does what he does which is not throw a pick, ran for a yard or two and lived for another down.

I am also sure other players did nothing that were off screen too. Just seems silly this is your line in the sand, a blown up screen play.

Wow, that was an aggressive stance. Not sure where that came from
You said I was complaining just to complain lol

I’m happy with the win and happy with the line play overall. I just posted a clip that was showing my biggest gripe with Wills as my prior post had no actual video evidence

We will have to agree to disagree then. I didn’t think it would be a controversial play honestly. Offensive linemen are coached to find someone to put their hat on. It’s very rare you see someone standing flat footed with their back to the LOS.

At the very least he could have turned around. Brissett started scrambling and there could have easily been a delayed blitz or a linebacker who just diagnosed the play and realized Brissett was in trouble who took that lane

If you’re not able to concede that the responsibility of the play side LT in a slip screen is to allow the edge defender behind you to chase the QB, then you’re not conversing on the same level as everyone else.

For what it’s worth, I’m probably pointing out that he needs to restart effort after picking up Jacoby on the scramble, but the play is designed for him to punch/release.

He can’t block back towards line EZ, so if the complaint is he should have already been running forward after releasing, I guess the argument could be made.

I wouldn’t have expected Joe Thomas to be a downfield blocker on this same play, fwiw.

Jed’s lazy. This isn’t lazy to me.

Yes I know it’s a slip screen. I’m not claiming Wills got beat and never did.

My entire point is on the effort afterwards but tbh I just regret posting it so I’m just gonna let it be after this. But yes it’s a slip screen and Wills did not get beat on this play

It was a bad example, you have been called out it was a bad example, you should concede it wasnt the example that you intended.

Willis is lazy, but on that play he was more confused than anything else. Willis is waiting for the pass to be made so he can lead block. But the play was entirely blown up. 20 years ago you are taught to hit someone, but football has changed you cant block back toward your own goal line, and you dont want to go down field yet. Willis was confused and didnt want a penalty.

There are examples of laziness, just not sure who you think Willis should block on that play.
