The Donovan Peoples-Jones Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Can we just say, the route he ran for the TD was literally incredible? I’m trying to think of another route similar that a Browns player has ran in recent years that resulted in a bomb.

A couple things were great about it:

1. It played to DPJ's strength - a vertical route. He doesn't have short area burst like Landry, but I'd put him and Hodge against anyone on the team in the 4x400 relay.

2. They isolated him against an inexperienced rookie corner. A veteran knows to keep an eye on the receiver just in case of a double move, but his man peeked over to Baker trying for a pass breakup.

3. Credit to Chad O'Shea, receivers coach and passing coordinator. DPJ was the only receiver on the field, it just looked like a run play 100% when Baker faked a handoff.

He's due fore a game breaking Punt Return. may not be for a TD but I could see a late game scenario where we need to put a team away with field position.

I'd argue yesterday was the best he looked in the return game. It's amazing that simply his ability to catch the punt makes him better than half the options we've had back there the last few years.

Credit to DPJ for stepping up in OBJ's absence. Not something you expect out of a 6th round WR but he's not your typical 6th rounder. It's not his fault UM's coaching staff is ass. He has the athletic ability and hands to play on Sunday. Great get by Berry.

DPJ already looks like a guarantee to get a second contract. To say that about a 6th round receiver in his rookie season is incredible.

Credit to Berry & the Front Office for drafting him, the coaching staff for developing him and certainly DPJ himself for being prepared and staying ready for his number to be called. Beyond just his natural talent, you can just tell he's dedicated to maximizing his potential.

I don't know about that. Peppers was doing pretty good in his second season. Landry was an excellent return man. I trusted his hands & instincts, even though he wasn't expendable, so it was kind of scary.

Peoples-Jones on the other hand makes me grind my teeth when he catches punts. I don't trust his hands or his instincts. He seems to want to give ground and run side to side instead of taking what's there. All that dancing causes him to frequently loses yards on the return and leads to unnecessary penalties because the blockers can't get a handle on the situation. Eventually the dancing is going to lead to turnovers and injuries.

Keep people DPJ at receiver. Get someone else in there who is expendable & knows how to return punts. It's not like he's been a threat to break one at any time. His longest put return all season is 11 yards.

I think his draft position was more related to his not so good college QB, than to his peculiar talent.. He was not used well at TTUN. He is long and fast once in stride. Makes difficult catches, and is not ( yet) a prima donna..

Loved the touchdown... but can someone explain to me what's going on with DPJ's touchdown dance?
Looked like me dancing out there.

It reminded me of Ray Lewis' celebration dance.

...not when he commits murder, though. The *on field* celebration dance. Too soon?

I'm still a fan of guys who do nothing but hand the ball to the ref like scoring a TD is no different than taking a crap.
