2020 NFL Draft - Pick #44 - Grant Delpit, S, LSU

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So, I've talked about this with @jking948 before, but the DB coach at LSU doesn't teach his DBs to tackle. Greedy and Delpit had the same issue with tackling in back to back years. Fulton is decent tackler, but Greedy and Delpit were both awful.

Also, let's keep that LSU train going next year. Derek Stingley is gonna be real, real good.

This is pretty interesting. I guess if I had to pick one or the other, I'd definitely have to take a DB who is superior in coverage but needs to work on his tackling vs DB who is a great tackler and just adequate in coverage.

The only worry I guess would be looking at a guy like Ward. He struggled with tackling his rookie year and had multiple concussions because of it.

Yeah, it's a different problem with Ward. Ward was taught to tackle a totally different way from what he was taught in college and was a little stubborn. The result was that Ward ended up somewhere in the middle and just went head first into legs, which is never a good idea.

I'm not sure if it's a scheme or what, but LSU DBs have been mostly cover guys who were told to play the pass. It's definitely not a physical thing, Delpit has the size.

The only reason Delpit wasn’t a top 10 pick is because of his high ankle injury last season. Early in the season He was #6 on McShays big board. Dude can play great job Berry!

Well played Lee, well played.

Its ok, You might not be able to produce QB's like purdue, but you have HOFers at every other position. We do have a better Corner in the hof in Rod Woodson, and the best coach of all time at any sport in John Wooden, but there is no shame in OSU's game and the talent they produce.

Enough Purdue, Lee. Just Purdon't.

Know what Delpit is really, really good at that most don't mention?

He's awesome at timing his blitz. Goes from 10 yards from the LOS to in the backfield in the blink of an eye.
He rushed the passer 39 times in 2019 and got pressures on 13 of them. That's unbelievably good.
