Any insight into how many LBs Woods likes to play on downs 2 & 3 and/or passing situations?

Reason I ask, is this may be a scheme fit where Browns are loading up on 2-down LBs and looking to put more DBs on the field for 3rd down and passing situation, perhaps with Wilson being the mainstay and Takitaki being utilized as a blitzer/pass rusher from the LB spot...

I'm not in love with the pick with other LBs on the board, particularly with a coverage LB severely lacking in this group, but it could give insight into what the FO values from the LB position and how the DC plans to run the defense...

@Smooth, my friend, I will be writing my analysis on the Mike Zimmer defense in-depth in the coming weeks. I don't want to shoot all my bullets right now. I will say there is a reason I felt life would be easier for everyone if they traded up to secure Logan Wilson. Pre-snap, filling a run gap, in coverage... I had zero doubts he would handle it. So now they took a guy who played in a tough conference at a high level, but didn't really stand out and make plays. I have to make my peace with that tonight and be open-minded that he would have destroyed in a different and less competitive setting week after week than the SEC.

Wow, if you go on the draft tracker on NFL.com, they have Logan Wilson going to the Browns at the top of the 3rd round. That's how good of a fit he was, the NFL isn't ready to give up the dream...MVIMG_20200424_223215.jpg

This is EXACTLY what some people said was going to happen. These mocks came out from national guys (and on here) where WE (and dumbshit mock guys) loved some players that are not flying off the board/are flying off earlier than we expected. I posted a few weeks back that during regular draft years teams go to pro days, etc. and get a consensus and agree on players. Now they are drafting based on their own opinions.

We here love Malik Harrison. But honestly who the hell knows? Phillips could end up being a way better pro. Maybe not. But at this point we got a LB that led the SEC last year in tackles but "may not be great because he doesn't have alpha traits." Okay.......thanks Barstool.

Let us wait a year and see how these guys pan out in the NFL.

Go fucking Browns. Love Keys.

I think we will see Joseph playing a lot near the LOS in passing downs almost playing as a LB

Davis-Gaither had surgery for a stress fracture in his foot in March. I could see how that combined with teams not being able to bring guys in to the facility would potentially scare teams off.
If he recovers well the team that takes him will get great value by getting Davis-Gaither later in the draft..

Love that the Browns traded down twice yesterday but still filled two holes and got some great value both with the players they picked but also the draft compensation.

Trading down 3 spots and still having their choice of Delpit/Winfield and picking up a 5th rounder that they didn’t have. Amazing.

Getting a 3rd from the Saints next year for trading down 14 spots was fantastic. If Zach Baun becomes a pro bowl type player, maybe not, but for today that’s a great move. And Elliott is a guy that could’ve went in our original draft spot and it would’ve made sense.

This 4th round pick is super important. Early in the round, and then have to wait 45 picks until our next selection.

Harrison Bryant or Albert O would be great adds if they want to go TE.

Gandy-Golden, KJ Hill, DPJ are WRs in the 4th I’d be happy with.

Saahdiq Charles, LSU LT, I’m intrigued by that could be drafted and moved to guard which is probably a better fit for him moving forward.

Not that I think this holds much weight with the Browns’ decision makers but it’s interesting that all of their picks thus far had strong recruiting rankings coming out of high school (all ratings per 247 composite).

Wills - high four star, 36th overall player in class of 2017

Delpit -high four star, 66th overall in 2017

Elliott - four star, 119th overall in 2016

Phillips - high four star, 61st overall in 2017

So this aged well.

Got Bryant, then got DBJ in the 6th not 4th.

Much respect for being that insightful.

Ha, thanks for the props! I was very happy on Saturday with the results. Rare that the Browns actually drafted guys I wanted. Same happened with Wills and Delpit too. Now, let's hope those guys pan out.

Charles was the 2nd pick of the 4th, so we never were close to having a shot with him anyway, but still filled the interior offensive lineman spot with Nick Harris... who seems to fit our zone scheme perfectly. Berry crushed it.
