2020 NFL Draft Thread - Day 3

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
DK Metcalf to an extent but I think that might have been injury related.

No thats a good example come to think of it, they didnt feature him at all, he was only injured his Jr year, no reason not to perform his sophmore year, had qb issues though, ironically a former UM qb who wanted to run more than pass

Can anyone think of a receiver who didnt produce in college but did in the NFL? DPJ was in a bad situation and there has to be others that were in similar situations.
Wasn't Calvin Johnson's production in college severely limited due to his team liking to play out of the wishbone formation or something a bunch?

I am stunned both KJ Hill and Lavert Hill are still on the board. Would be happy if the Browns ended up with one or both of them.

Browns done picking (unless they trade back into the draft).

KJ Hill finally taken. 7th round to Chargers

I'm no believer in Justin Herbert... but Hill reminds me of Cooper Kupp. That front office is putting a really nice team out there.

Let this one simmer for a moment:

After the KJ Hill selection, Xichigan has 10 drafted players in the 2020 draft to tOSU 9 drafted players...

Edit #1: now 10 drafted players each with Jashon Cornell being taken by Detroit (their 3rd Buckeye taken this draft)

Edit #2; With the draft now over at 7:03 pm on 4/25/20, the final count is 10 (from tOSU) to 10 (from TTUN)

Depends on what your definition of produce is.

Alshon Jeffrey had a pretty pedestrian Junior year prior to his NFL career. He did have a big sophomore year but really fell off from that.

A.J. Green never had a 1,000 yard season at Georgia.

Reggie Wayne had a pretty average statistical career at Miami. 755 yards was the most he had in a season in his 4 years.

It’s not really common but there are examples. Stefon Diggs is another one who didn’t exactly light the world on fire in college.

Obviously there was a big difference in the quality of competition given that Hill played at OSU, but Kupp dominated in college and is bigger and a little more athletic. He also had top-tier agility, whereas Hill is a big question mark there becasue he didn't do the drill.

Right, and Kupp is a stud, in hindsight, I think it is unlikely that Hill reaches that level. With that said, the Ohio State offense tends to make receiver production hard to evaluate. Hil is a beautiful route runner, probably runs the best slants in the NCA, and has great hands.

Given the Browns have Landry, I do not think Hill was a great fit here, but I do think he is a consistent slot receiver for the next 5-7 years, and maybe more.

Megatron had 76 receptions for 1200 yards and 15TD's for a running team, yeah horrible production.

Good news is DPJ doesnt have to become Calvin Johnson to be a good draft pic, lol
