2020 NFL Draft Thread - Day 3

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Kind of difficult to rank the drafts from the AFC North teams 1-3 (Pitt is obviously a distant last) - I think everyone outside of Pitt did very well.

Baltimore:

1 Queen
2 Dobbins
3 Madibuike
3 Duvernay
3 Malik harrison
3 Tyre Phillips
4 Bredeson
5 Broderick Washington
6 James Proche
7 Geno Stone

Cleveland:

1 Wills Jr
2 Delpit
3 Elliott
3 Jacob Phillips
4 Harrison Bryant
5 Nick Harris
6 DPJ

+ Saints 2021 3rd round pick

Cincy:

1 Burrow
2 Higgins
3 Logan Wilson
4 Davis-Gaither
5 Khalid Kareem
6 Hakeem Adeniji
7 Markus Bailey

Pittsburgh:

2 Claypool
3 Alex Highsmith
4 Anthony mcfarland Jr
4 Kevin Dotson
6 Antoine Brooks Jr
7 Carlos Davis

I actually like some of the players Pittsburgh got, particularly Highsmith, but in this draft for this division? Its last.

Antonio Gates had 0 catches, 0 yards, and 0 TDs in college.
Put he did put a basketball team onto his back and help to get them to the elite-8 in the NCAA Tourney.
Go Flashes!

Baltimore picked some great prospects and they had a lot of picks. I rank them first. A few picks I am not crazy about or do not think it is a net benefit. A guy like Dobbins will not be that important until they move on from Ingram. I like Bredeson less than Ruiz and Onwenu. I am not a fan of Washington. Geno Stone could be amazing, but he has a lot to overcome from a physical standpoint.

From a percentage standpoint, I think the Browns have the highest composite likelihood of their players turning into studs. The only one I really do not like is Phillips. The unemotional part of me thinks DPJ maxes out as a special teamer. But I think all of Wills, Delpit, Elliott, Bryant, and Harris are future long-term starters, and odds are one becomes a superstar.

Cincinnati selected some great players, and I think their strategy is just to add talent, but my only issue is that I am not entirely sure what their long-term vision is. Still, they added a ton of talented prospects. Honestly, if I were higher on Burrow and Higgins, I probably would have Cincinnati ranked ahead of Cleveland. I think both guys will be really, really good pros, but I am not seeing either becoming a superstar. If you think one/both can, though, tough to complain about their draft.

I am not sure what is really to like about Pittsburgh's draft? They added a receiver who will need to convert to a tight end, a situational pass-rusher, a runningback, and three really nice depth pieces. My favorite pick is Dotson. Holy production, batman. I think he becomes a long-time starter and potentially a star. That is really all I like, though.

How I would view DPJ is to look at him as a Hodge replacement who provides kick/punt return duties. If that's all he becomes at the next level, hes a great pick. If he ever produces, hes a home run.

The best thing the Bengals did this draft, outside of fixing their QB situation long term, is totally revamp their LB core. If Davis-Gaither is medically cleared, then they nailed those two picks.

Both of the Maryland guys were productive, good players. McFarland might be a starter, but hes at least better than Snell. Brooks is a good situational player, probably better than Edmund's. I think Highsmith could have every down potential if given time, and you already mentioned Dotson.

Stefon Diggs

He had a 71st percentile dominator rating in college, so I don't think it's fair to say he didn't produce. That's a lot higher than DPJ. Diggs also broke out during his age 18 season, and early breakouts are often an indicator of guys who will be future quality NFL players.

Not saying he's destined to fail, though, because he was utilized all over the field and declared early, which are two things I like in receiver prospects.

People keep mentioning Diggs, but injuries got in his way.

He was projected as a first/second round pick until he got hurt.

TJ Houshmanzadeh. 48 catches for 730 yards his final year at Oregon State.

Joe Horn. 54 catches 878 yards at Itawamba.

Marques Colston had 47 grabs for 614 yards his final season at Hofstra.
