2020 Off-Season Rumors/News

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Off the wall type question. Cleveland is one of the smallest markets with all 3 major sports teams. We saw when the Browns left in 95, everyone flocked to the Indians for 455 straight games.

HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING - if the Cavs ever left town, do you think the Indians would see an increase in attendance and more fan interaction than Tribe Fest and weekend games?

It's so hard to answer, I think baseball just doesn't resonate with a lot of Clevelanders the way it did in the mid 90's when it might have been a more exciting.

Baseball, like football and basketball, is just not getting the attendance that it used to get. With new TV's that make it just as good if not better than in person and the time sink that baseball requires, I don't think you'd expect any attendance figures to increase soon.

FYI, I know spending isn’t going to win us a title. But they cut salary last year, traded away Bauer and on the cusp of losing Lindor because of money. It’s frustrating and sucks.

We get the frustration and it’s likely though we only have 10-15 mil left in the budget so making trades may end get the last set of pieces a little easier than free agency. Also NRI guys could be some of those pieces that we need to fill in the last positions of the team (Aka Loss of Naquin, Kipnis etc)

So they will spend $$$ on FAs. Not speaking of bargain bin players who are trying to make a comeback?
Who said anything about spending money on FA?

I think the team is far better constructed to compete this year than they were last year, and I said as much at the trade deadline.

They're central division favorites right now.

The NFL is slowly heading that way. Antonio Brown, Melvin Gordon tried (and failed), and Jalen Ramsey were the examples this season

Odell could very well be next
Gordon held out for more money, right?

Ramsey wanted out of a garbage situation.

AB is a head case.

Those situations happen regardless of what the leagues CBA looks like.

I think people forget we made that trade at the deadline basically looking at it as a win now and help us in future seasons move. We got Puig to help us down the stretch (which didn’t do shit). For next few seasons we now have Franmil (who I’m most excited about). I think with an offseason with us under his belt he’ll feel more comfortable and smack the shit out of baseballs, thus helping our offense. Oh and we got Logan Allen who was highly touted, but had a down season and a couple other minor league pitchers. We’re set up well in my opinion. I’m hoping we pick up a couple players whether that be trade or free agency to help shore up that offense.

I am agreeing with you btw, I am just stating my reasoning why I do.

We have on paper the best starting rotation in baseball if Cole leaves Houston.

Catching we have a really good duo, Outside of 2B we have a legit INF plus even if Reyes cannot field well, he is a great DH

OF we don’t have to worry about Def since outside of Reyes and Bauers we don’t have anyone with below than Above average in their positions and they should all get better. So if we can replace Naquins production from last season, I think we will have a solid OF

Bullpen arms overall on paper should be good. I just don’t like not having a legit veteran setup man.

I think we have three holes on the roster, we have a top farm system as well. I think with the young guys coming up, maybe a couple trades and some NRIs we can avoid needing to spend a lot of money and leave the money for the in season adjustments like we have been making. So even with so little of a budget we should be coming into the season with easily a 90+ win team

Yeah I forgot to mention I want a reliever that pumps gas. Definitely something that was missing last year.

Yeah it sucks. I wish we pulled max capacity every night and could afford $200 million a year. The difference is I accept reality and really enjoy watching how our FO navigates a revenue restricted team in a sport with no salary caps.

You seem to be missing the fact they cut salary last off season, instead of spending more, yet won 2 more games.

No I get it, yet the Twins got better and won the division. Now they are trying to be players in the pitchers free agent market. Obviously I don’t want to go out and spend just to spend, but the writing appears to be on the wall. Pray to god I’m wrong, but I see a retooling coming before another division title. Sucks

We basically retooled at the deadline.

Rosenthal just tweeted Astros looking to shed some salary and are listening to offers on Correa

Angels have anyone that could be a swap for Kluber?
