2020 Off-Season Rumors/News

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
How will this effect the 2B market though in the end you feel?

It won't. Ryosuke can't hit. He's a top tier defensive 2nd basemen though. If he comes to the majors it will likely be on a MLC. Dude hits 270 in the NPB.

This rumor sounds intriguing, especially since the Blue Jays are looking for pitching in return..
Perhaps the Tribe can utilize multiple pieces to get something done...

Here’s an interesting one: Heard from multiple people lately #BlueJays could be open to moving Lourdes Gurriel Jr. this winter, especially if it brings the right rotation arm back. Signed through 2023 and heading into his age-26 season, the contract is nice and so is the bat.

We still have the pieces to go make the move to go get him so the question is are we willing too?

Plesac's advanced numbers last season weren't great. If some team gives us a good offer for him, he'd be the guy I would want to trade.

Kluber, Cookie, Clev, Bieber, and Civale is who I want on Opening Day.

What role do you have for Plutko? Don't forget Plutko is out of options...

Woulda love to see Plesac end up on a team like the Astros (is he is gonna be traded), he could be a beast with an improved out pitch. But you are right, his peripherals left alot to be desired, he still has a relievers mix of pitches (ie 2). Civale strikes me as Josh Tomlin Jr, i can see him getting pounded once the book gets out on him. Have to root for grinders like him, though.

Don't really have one for him. I don't think he's better than Civale, so unless maybe the team wanted to use him as a long reliever, he'd be a guy that I would look to maybe move in the offseason.

Haven't really followed the Tribe since 2002 for reasons.

How is the outlook for them improving? I understand they battled through some bad luck with injuries and only got healthy towards the end of the season.

Should be bringing back pretty much the exact same core next season.

Starting pitching group of Kluber, Bieber, Clevinger, Carassco, Civale/Plutko/Plesac will be one of the best in baseball if healthy.

Lineup will be headed by the three-headed monster of Lindor, Ramirez, and Santana, along with hopeful improvements from some young guys like Reyes, Mercado, Luplow, and Bauers. Roberto Perez, our catcher, was one of the best overall in baseball in 2019.

Bullpen has plenty of questions, but should be led by Hand the closer along with guys like Karinchak, Goody, Wittgren, Cimber, and Hentges - with the opportunity to also have vets Perez, Clippard, and Otero back.

Jason Kipnis has been around since 2011 and likely won't be back. Yasiel Puig likely won't be back.

If everything breaks right, I still see no reason why this team can't play into October. The AL Central is getting better, but injury luck last season (Lindor, Kluber, Carassco, Clevinger, Ramirez) was a huge killer. We're already going to be without starting right fielder Tyler Naquin for 6+ weeks next season as he recovers from a torn ACL.

I'd say as of today, they're probably a 91-94 win team next season.

I don't believe they can go deep in the playoffs with Hand as the closer. They have plenty of offense, and enough starter quality to work through a normal injury year, but our closer was not good enough against good teams.
