2020 Off-Season Rumors/News

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The worst thing this team can do is rush him back.

Make sure he’s fully extended out and ready to roll before just throwing him in there and hoping he finds the touch along the way. Too early in the season to rush someone back.

@AllforOne is right, Allen and Plutko have to pick up the slack for a few starts. Hopefully one of them emerges as a legitimate option in the long term, it’s a hell of an opportunity for both.

Allen it's his chance to shine, Plutko it's his chance to.prove he deserves to stay up in the pros as a starter.

I'd always rather have a million decent names for one spot then the opposite like some teams who are like uh.. who can we even put there.. We have that with this starting crew we have, hence why we could afford to move Bauer and Kluber while staying in contention.

I really am not worried about the few starts Clev misses since we have a group there, it's the lineup production that needs to step up since the Twins can hit especially if they avoid injuries. They almost have the 90s Indians type of roster, can really hit, but lack some pitching.

I'd love to see Logan Allen have a monster spring and seize the opportunity.

I'm not a huge fan of Plesac, so it'd be nice to have a guy waiting in the wings that I have confidence in.

Agree with both. I like Plesac, but just am not sold on his long-term staying power. At least, not as much as I am of his fellow 2016 friends, Bieber and Civale.

I know I've posted it elsewhere here, but Logan Allen intrigues the heck out of me. Top-100 prospect for a couple of years, excellent minor league record overall, but struggled last year (and even at that, he was still fanning a guy an inning, so it's not like he suddenly lost his stuff). I'd like to see him force the issue in the rotation, and give the Indians yet another arm (and while it's not essential, it is nice that he's a lefty, and gives opponents a different look in a series).

So If this works out, cleveland can do it part time with charlotte? Just an awful idea. just move them back to Montreal and make marlins back to the florida marlins and have them play between st pete and miami

Who wouldn’t love to go back and forth between Tampa Bay and Montreal?! Super convenient!

Start of spring be in Florida, summer months in Montreal until the Sept then back to Florida lol I mean the temperature outside will always be the same that way lol

Manfred is just on fire.

I’m sure the players can’t wait to split time between two home cities and have even more time away from their family.

Why not just in a sense let baseball teams move to better markets? Tampa's issue isn't really the ball club its location of the stadium is bad and people seem to hate it's a dome so they need to build a new one with a system to either retract the roof or keep the stadium cooler with some type of open air.

I doubt Santana will even be on the team by the all star break. We don’t need another guy who can’t play the field and can’t hit for average. Just bring someone up from the minors.

Rob Manfred might be the worst leader/commissioner/CEO of any sport of any level in the history of the world.

Every time I think he can't make a worse decision or pitch for the game, he goes out and completely outdoes himself. Fully expecting him to take away the padding from the outfield walls and add metal spikes to them to "up the excitement of the game".

I wonder how Bud Selig would have fumbled this?
Bowie Kuhn? Happy Chandler?
Kennesaw Mountain Landis?

I feel like if Wrigley/Fenway were in a smaller market, Manfred would be pushing the team to get rid of the "old eyesore" and get a new, modern stadium.

I won't defend Manfred, but I will say: roasting the leader (whether it is the commissioner of a sport or otherwise) is a time-honored tradition. The things that are being said today about Manfred are really no different than the things that were said about Bud Selig, or Fay Vincent, or Bart Giamatti (though they had to say them quickly), or Bowie Kuhn. And they'll be said about the next commissioner too.

With all that in mind: dual-city teams is just stupid, especially when the two cities are a thousand miles apart. And dear God, we don't need more playoff teams. Stop cheapening the regular season. If anything, let's get rid of a wild card and get back to some real pennant races. You'd think the NBA and NHL would be cautionary tales as to what happens when you open the postseason to half the league.

I really hate trying to dismiss arguments because "It's all the same."

You're correct that often times people do not like the commissioner.

That does not mean that what Manfred is doing is okay, or even similar to what has been done in the past (which still wouldn't make it okay).
