2020 Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's a little annoying how we haven't been able to use expiring contract assets like TT's, to gain draft pick assets like teams like OKC and NOP have been able to recently with great ease. I'm fine with letting TT walk but It would've been nice to get something ( a late/ future first,+ 2nds) for him.

Also now we only have Drummond as someone who can legitimately play center and have literally no big man prospects at all. I really don't think we have anything to worry about Koby trying to rush this team into playoff contention on DG's orders, because judging by his moves (or lack thereof) so far this offseason he has no intention of trying to be competitive this offseason, which isn't necessarily a bad thing I just wish we had more assets by this point in the rebuild, I mean we only had one draft pick this year.

we really couldn’t outbid $5mil for Noel :/

I'm hoping its because we are trying to get Maker or Giles both of which are younger and fit the timeline better. More realistically we just waiting to sign what ever scrubs want the Vet Min for last 2 roster spots.

No one is watching or showing up this next year. Best Dan can do is spend the min. and allow these young chaps to find an identity.
If that's the case what was the point of re-signing Kevin, and trading for Drummond? Neither are going to pieces long term, and both give us enough salary where we can't really afford to take on contracts to gain assets.

For all we know Maker could be closer to 30. I'd pass on him ..

I would have huge interest in Giles for the Cavs though.

Celtics can’t officially sign Tristian Thompson until the Gordon Hayward situation is settled. They’ll be hard-capped once they do, which would prevent the signing portion of a potential S&T.

I really feel for Celtics fans right now. Their 2021 championship hopes might be resting on Michael Jordan doing the logical thing and cooperating on a sign-and-trade. The last time Boston tried to get MJ to do that, he turned down four first-round picks to draft Frank Kaminsky.

could be interesting

Kevin and Drummond were both on the team before a global pandemic happened and last I checked fans are not allowed to go to games for the foreseeable future. Separate issue, last I heard, ratings for the NBA were down a massive amount. I can't comment on that issue because I don't know why that is.

But, yeah, I haven't watched the league in a while, maybe I'm incorrect. Is everything peachy?

My point is that if you are trying to rebuild and get young players playing time, then why are Kevin and Andre on this team especially when they take up so much cap space? We could have used that cap space to take on contracts to gain draft picks like teams like OKC and the NOP have done recently.

We honestly don't compare favorably to teams like NOP, Mephis, or OKC in terms of having assets that you can either use to build the team through the draft or use as trade chips to get a big piece of the puzzle. I think the only 1st round pick we have outside our own is the Milwaukee one and that's going to be a very late first-round pick.

If it’s any consolation to them they’re not winning the championship unless Lebron gets hurt

Do you realize what it would take to get rid of Kevin and Andre? (aka: unless you want to mortgage the future and get rid of draft picks in a market where we can't sign players - we're stuck with them.)

I think the front office wanted decent players to help develop the younger players. Drummond and Love aren't standing in the way in terms of minutes of holding anyone back. We need a complete team to develop the young players properly. When you have holes in the roster it can hurt players development because they are pushed into roles beyond their skill set. When Nance and Love can't play, we playing Cedi at PF and that is prime example of this.

I think one of the reasons they took on Drummond was in hopes they can trade him for higher value this year. They gave up two not so valuable 2nd round picks, if they get a first for him it will be worth it. Some of the OKC and NO trades have involved players with value for better pieces, its why they have been able to keep flipping the assets.

Koby has tried to reclaim some players to get value. Henson and Knight weren't bad bets to try to flip down the line. Drummond isn't either. Some teams are just lucky that the players needed to be given up for trades to work the numbers are just more valuable than others.
