2020 Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
How did you like the Kyrie Irving deal?
I always feel Boston can use the media to take advantage whenever they want just like with IT’s injury. The organization was glad to have the Brooklyn pick but they never really trade away players that are good for the team. See JR Bremmer, Welsch, IT, Erden, Harangody, etc..

I think fans tend to be believe the media has more influence on team's decision making than it actually does. Most teams don't give two shits about what writers say they should or shouldn't do.

Totally agree with @daytripper - do not understand the hate with Larry Jr. Maybe some did not like how he favored Clarkson so much before.
The thing about Larry is that his game is improving. I remember when JB put him in as a 3 even though they did not practice at all. He was able to use his athleticism and chasing those wings for perimeter shots. I think it was against Miami when KPJ had that big night but Larry was chasing Duncan Robinson and made it tough which also led to the comeback.
His shot is also improving year by year.

The other thing about LNJR that people tend to ignore is that he loves Cleveland. He loves Ohio. He genuinely wants to play ball for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Don't you think - in an era where free agents jump to ship to the LAs and Miamis of the world - that's a positive thing? It's hard enough to get players to want to buy in to small market teams. I couldn't be prouder to have a guy like Larry representing the fans and the city of Cleveland.

Oh, and his game has improved enormously over the last few years. The stats and the eye-test tell me all I need to know. Guy is versatile and committed to wanting to win, and has an eye for the right play. Sounds like a guy that's worth keeping around if you ask me.

Nance is always working on his game. Last year in the off-season he added a three-point shot. Reportedly he took 20,000 shots. That's dedication. This off-season he's working on his agility and footwork in anticipation of playing more at the 3 in the "supersized" lineup that was so successful last season in brief trial runs.

In five March games, with head coach J.B. Bickerstaff utilizing Nance as a small forward at various points, he was averaging 15.6 points on 55.4% shooting and 45% from 3-point range to go with 7.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists. - Chris Fedor

The Nance-Love-Drummond combination played eight games, averaging almost eight minutes on the floor. They averaged 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds, along with a +/- of 6.3. - Kelsey Russo

Let me highlight that number. A +6.3 points in eight minutes. Give that grouping 32 minutes a game and that's a +25.

I said to our staff, “In the future, we’ve got to try and maximize as many minutes as we can for Larry Nance.” He does so many intangible things for the team. He gets 50/50 rebounds, he makes the next pass... When he was injured that hurt us a lot. And when he’s played a lot of minutes, we’ve been pretty good usually. - John Beilein

Just (a) gritty, tough winner. That’s all you can see, even when the ball wasn’t going in. When he isn’t doing well on offense, he will take it out on his defender and come out and play better (defense). Some people won’t do that. If the offense isn’t clicking, they’re still thinking about it at the other end. Larry [Nance Jr] is just such a key part of this team, of this culture, of our future. - Beilein, 12/7/19

Beilein isn't around anymore but I think management sees Nance the same way he did. I see why the Cavaliers extended Nance's contract for three years at $41 million and why the Celtics are trying to get him. Any team in the league would want this guy. The poster who said Nance doesn't care about how the team does could not be more wrong. It's exactly the opposite - he's all about the team. If anything he passes too much when he should be shooting more. Just an extremely unselfish and hard working player who gets better every year. He's a core building block due to his talent, his leadership, his unselfishness, his willingness to pass and play defense, and his versatility to play three different positions.

Trading Nance would be something of a betrayal to him and to the fans. I can't see them seriously considering it unless A) they're in love with Wiseman, and B) the trade would get them Wiseman and the #14 pick.

When do you think the 21 season will start? I don't think they want to start until they can get
fans back in. May be waiting a while longer.

Adam Silver wants to start the season around early to mid January but he doesn't know because they gotta figure out the salary cap situation, the schedule and allow the playoff teams to rest. The NBA haven't even announced the start of free agency yet.

I think fans will probably happen but on a smaller scale. It won't be at full capacity I know that because it will be stupid.

On top of that, the league doesn't know,if they're going to compressed the season(having alot of back to back to play the full 82 game season) or have a 60-something game season.

Oh no I see what you did there. That's too long.

Yeah, because the NBA is trying to sent players to play in the Olympics. That's, why I think the NBA will probably have a 60-something regular season games and then playoffs.Even, then that might run into some problems.

The elephant in the room is can the USA get COVID under control. I don't see any indication that it can? That's out of the power of the NBA.
