2020 Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think trading Love would mean Drummond was gone by the deadline too. Teams who thought they were going to have Giannis cap for 2021 prob won't once the new number is announced.

Nance can handle PF duty. He is good. Don't forget Wade. I think it would be good to get him minutes. Would prob need another PF to round it out. You are totally right that there would have to be further moves. Might pre-emptively sign TT.

Drummond's contract is huge and it will be hard to match, but 28M in space plus a guy who could potentially help you in the playoffs doesn't come around every day in a shrinking cap situation.

Glad we are out of the repeater tax because taking on money at this point could get some good pieces.

Don't get me wrong, I hate Horford and like Love, but I like Thybulle.

I think a Love for Horford trade would go against Gilbert wanting to make the playoffs. It clearly a downgrade with no increase in flexibility. If it happens, my guess it would be part of a much larger trade with multiple teams.

I did forget about Wade but it seems hard to see a way for us to upgrade our bigs thru trades or the draft. It's one of the reasons why I'm not a fan of drafting Wiseman or Okongwa. Find someone that can move the needle as a wing or a compliment to Sexton at guard. The money that is locked up in our bigs will make it hard to shift our roster this year. I think we have to just see if a traditional center like Drummond works for the roster. Love is a good piece to have next to Drummond.

A trade deadline deal to get rid of Drummond might be in the cards but it's hard to see Koby and Gilbert making a major shift in the off-season.

Been reading about drastic salary cap and tax line reduction possibilities for the 20-21 season, And viewers for playoffs are down 20-40% depending on what media is referred to. And now with postponement or end of the playoffs, the cap situation does not look good.

At approximately 112m lplus 5m for draft pick, resigning TT could be an issue even if he would accept backup money. A lot of teams may be looking to dump salaries. Could be an interesting off season.

Viewership being down is expected when you are putting games on at 1pm and 4pm eastern. Half the games are just in a poor time slot. Also the 6:30 time slot isn't even good for the west coast.

I don't think the ESPN or TNT are making less money though. They are getting more games so they have more ad time despite less viewers. Remember some first round games were just on the regional sports networks before.

Also some of these first round series were just crap because of injuries and certain guys not coming into the bubble.

Think other causes are likely in play as several articles have mentioned. And read that the NBA thought rating would soar because of the absence of sports for so many months.

I thought it would go up but it's alot of basketball to watch and if not a good match up in the middle of the day, it's not going to get viewers. I can only really watch 2 a day. I might catch moments of the other ones airing.

Adrian Wojnarowski: ESPN Sources: Among themes in meeting: NBPA explained financial implications of ending season, including possible lockout next year. Chris Paul on leaving meeting unified; CJ McCollum on needing a plan of action. Doc Rivers on using platform, voting, holding police accountable.

sounds like the season maybe over and lock out next year

drian Wojnarowski: The Clippers and Lakers voting on perhaps not continuing with the season was considered more of a polling, than a final vote, sources tell ESPN. The resumption of the playoffs remains still up in the air.

So it looks like the Cavs WILL be able to hold a team mini-camp inside their own bubble in downtown Cleveland. They will have their own hotel and private dining.
It looks like TT, Delly, and Drummond will not attend. But Love will.
This is a big deal. Obviously they won't be able to scrimmage against other teams. But it's still better than nothing. Even team social outings are planned.
D Windler is ok to play, and that's a big deal too. Depending how he looks, it could have an effect on the draft/trades.

I wonder,if the media are allowed to be there.

Drummond got Lasik. He is going to be splashing 3's all over the court now.

Glad to know how personal reason for missing much of this is legit. Fedor’s article did say Drummond had been at all of the previous informal workouts over the past few weeks that the players held without coaches, so that’s good. Means that only are two true FAs will not be in attendance and that is totally understandable

Been hearing he has backed off his "definitely picking up his option". Dunno if this has to do with extension talks, but it might. I can't imagine the Cavs are offering 25M per year for him.

I don't see how he participates in mini camp if he is a free agent.

I think Drummond wore contacts because I remember one falling out? I do wish it was like when Lebron got Lasik and his shooting got better right away.

I think you will see the Cavs and Drummond lock into an extension. It makes sense on various levels. You don't want to add some young 19 year old kid to go with what you already have when you've got a proven man in his prime who seems to like the city and players on the team. I thought this deal was a slam dunk when we got him and now if he wants to extend, even more so. Why? It is a game of match-ups and people always say the game is evolving away from true centers and blah blah blah. All I know is, having a man like him who rebounds at an elite level is of distinct value. You also don't want to try and play in a manner ill-suited to the better teams. (meaning, in order to win our championship, we didn't try to out Golden State -Golden State)

I do think if Drummond could focus on a couple of things he would be a great player. He needs move his feet better, and box out. This is his opportunity to figure out that being a solid defensive player would still make him relevant. He thinks shooting 3s is going to do it, but he would be very playable just making fewer mistakes. I hope we re-sign Tristan so Bickerstaff can bench him for a guy who plays the right way. He was humiliated being traded for a 2nd round pick. He has a chance to redeem himself, but he can't do it expecting to be the star on this team.

The thing I like about Tristan is that he tries not to play outside himself. He knows he's not one of these bigs that stretches the floor offensively. And, defensively he plays very hard despite getting outmatched by bigger centers.

Drummond is bigger than most centers but get pushed around like he's a small forward....And,he really need to stop acting like a point guard.

If, Drummond had Tristan's heart nobody should be able to score in the paint easily.
