Tyler Herro has made the Cavs drafting Darius Garland look even worse
The Cleveland Cavaliers took Darius Garland at the 5th overall spot in the 2019 NBA Draft, yet Tyler Herro of the Heat continues to make the pick look bad.factoryofsadness.co
What an unfair article by the author. To compare Garland to Herro is ridiculous...Garland haven't played basketball for a year and he was expected to start immediately. On top of that, the Heat has more stability at the coaching position.
Man, that was a brutal article. One thing the author is correct about, Garland did have the single worst win share total in the draft, and apparently in the NBA (-1.3). Now, I am reluctant to place much meaning on that after only 59 games, but it sure isn't a good thing.
The other consideration is that the Cavs as a team only won 19 games, which wasn't Garland's fault. That's going to make everyone's win share total look bad.
In order, the win share leaders from that draft that the Cavs could have taken before Garland are in order: Brandon Clarke, Jaxson Hayes, Cameron Johnson, Matisse Thybulle, Eric Paschall, PJ Washington, Daniel Gafford, Rui Hachimura, then Tyler Herro.
All things considered, the Cavs need to take Killian Hayes or Tyrese Halliburton in this year's draft, whomever is still available.
