@-Akronite- and other Bernie supporters, do you still want to stay in the race? I guess my bigger question is what does Bernie’s movement more damage: leaving the race too early or staying and potentially getting embarrassed? That movement is important so, to me if I were part of it, the best choice is the one that preserves it.

I want Bernie to privately hold Biden's feet to the fire and get him to go left on some issue (healthcare, expunging marijuana records, something) as a prerequisite to dropping out early.

After that then yes I want him to drop out. I will vote for Biden purely to get Trump out. No need to drag out the process anymore when it was decided as soon as everyone dropped out before Super Tuesday except Warren.

Posted in wrong thread before: I have a hard time believing Bernie can make a comeback, but it's not so one-sided as to be worthy of a dropout already. My feeling is stay through the next debate, if you don't shift anything after going one on one with Biden, then start working on your exit strategy and see how we can maximize what was built.

Also, an issue every American, but especially Democrats, should be concerned with: VOTER SUPPRESSION.

Every time we cast ballots we see stories like these. WHY? It's mixed messaging to tell young people to vote only for them to wait hours to vote, causing some to give up. These issues disproportionately affect young and minority voters and we need to improve this before November. Low turnout means Trump can win, we have to do better.

Unrealistic scenario: Everyone stays in and boosts the debate ratings, where the focus on Coronavirus shows the necessity of M4A, and it becomes a race again.

With how badly Trump is handling the pandemic and the economy tanking as a result, Trump might be set up for a loss regardless of opponent (dangerously complacent thinking, but still).

The laugh reaction isn't mocking. Your optimism made me smile.

Keep fighting the fight. Sorry for dipping out on Bernie already.

I dunno man. I feel totally the opposite way, in part because I am really pessimistic that Medicare for All will ever be passed by a Congress unless Democrats can get a filibuster-proof 60 senators (and even then I have no faith in the conservative Supreme Court upholding it given the language in the Obamacare decisions). I think at a time when Donald Trump is so badly bungling a crisis and the stock market is in a free fall, Democrats should cut the in-fighting and rally together behind the only candidate with a legitimate mathematic chance to win. This is bigger than Biden or Bernie IMO. This is a chance to save the Supreme Court from being 7-2 in favor of the conservatives with most of the justices being in their 50s and stop the endless appointments of conservative federal judges as well. This is a chance to flip the Senate and achieve a lot of great things (criminal justice reform, climate change action, combat income inequality, reasonable gun regulations, stop voter suppression, etc.). We have a chance to save our reputation abroad and restore some of our soft power.

I don't buy into the "only candidate with a legitimate mathematic chance to win," as it's partly based on projected math, not the literal math (if I were a betting man, obviously my money would be on Biden right now). Biden would aim to accomplish much less on most of the fronts you mentioned anyway, which is my point. I'd prefer it if Biden and his team were currently running the COVID-19 response instead of Trump, but Biden also JUST said he'd veto a M4A bill even if it passed, which is fucking insane given what's currently happening. If the situations were reversed, I don't believe Biden would be considering a drop out.

But like I said, an unrealistic scenario, as I'm sure a lot of people, especially those that like Biden, feel similarly to you.

Biden commits to a female VP and Bernie says it's most likely.

Does a VP have to be 35 as well?

Does anyone think that the horrorific selfishness shown by the current crop of college kids puts the nail in Student Loan Debt Forgiveness?

Or how about only for people who went to college before 2018?

Are you referring to Spring Breakers?
