2020 Series #13 Brewers @ Indians Sep. 4-6

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Absolutely no clutch hitting on this team against a mediocre Brewers squad. Any poster that believes this team can advance in the playoffs is delusional. Sorry but I honestly believe that.

DC, I'm not saying I agree with you, but it is a concern of mine. Hopefully they find their stride, and Santana plays a big part in doing so. Reyes has little protection and opposing pitchers are pitching around him.

Spot on. They will undoubtedly need to hit better if they want to reach the ultimate goal.

However, we’re 25-15 right now. Our chances are as good as anyone’s. Enjoy the ride.

Congrats to Bieber who is now 7-0 with another 10K game. He's struggled a bit his last two games, however, limiting runs but only going 5-6 innings.

The bullpen went four innings allowing no runs and only two hits.

Nice to see Santana with a couple of hits and RBI's but both hits were from the right side. His problems this year have been mostly hitting left-handed which is where the overwelming majority of his at-bats take place. He's down to .173 hitting left-handed.

Once again it was pitching, defense (great plays by Lindor and Hosey on ground balls to their right), and timely hitting. Ramirez, Santana, Lindor and Luplow all got on base three times. It was awesome to see the Indians finally beat Brett Anderson who came in with a 0.96 ERA against them. I am so tired of watching soft tossing lefties dominate the Indians.

The Tigers were down 6-2 and "roared" back with eight runs to beat the Twins. They pummelled the Twins pitchers for 17 hits. The Indians are now a game up on the Twins.

Now for a four game series against the Royals who have lost six in a row and 12 of their last 15. The Tribe has won four series in a row, going 2-1 in all of them. Let's go 3-1 at home against the Royals who are 7-14 on the road.

The strat-o cards had more info on them & were 2 sided with color..
I don't believe Gamel would be rated as a 1 or 2 range in RF but he should be a range 3 with I'm guessing -2 arm

Nice analogy tho...
I still have a Del Unser card. The back side has his splits in blue ink and he is awful against lefties.

From the cleveland.com game column:

Alomar said Santana looked more relaxed batting right-handed against the lefty Anderson.

“Left-handed, he seems to be too jerky and too much body into his swing,” Alomar said.

Hope they can smooth him out by the time they play the Twins next weekend.

Count me as delusional...very delusional.

Focusing on only one aspect of a team while downplaying the positives is no way to assess anything. And giving high value to what happened a month ago while ignoring recent trends is also unwise

Some examples...

We have by far the best rotation in the AL. It leads in almost every statistical category by a large margin. Starting pitching is still the most important factor in baseball.

We have the second best pen in the league, behind Oakland...and it is by far the most rested. We also just added a key piece.

If the season ended today, the award for best closer in the AL would probably go to Hand, who is much maligned on this forum.

He leads MLB in saves, perfect in eleven opps. In 15 appearances he has given up a run only twice...and failed only once. In terms of FIP he is having the best season of his career...but fans want to focus on only two things...his one disastrous outing in a non save situation and a drop in velocity.

Our team defense is among the elite in baseball.

The offense has truly been...uh...bad. But, and its a big but, all but one of our main bats have been hitting the crap out of the ball for over half the season now...while fans choose to focus on what happened a month ago.

In the last 23 games we have played, Lindors OPS is .883, but somehow he is having an off year, because he started miserably.

In that span, JRams is .824...Reyes is 1.092...Naquins is .803. And the group is even hotter over the last 12 games, combining for an OPS close to .960.

The idea that we are gonna roll over and die when we get to the playoffs is silly. In this season of awful offense, we are 8-8 against playoff bound teams, and most of those games came before our big guns began hitting the baseball. And two of those games were with Plutko as the starter.
