2020 series #15 Indians at Twins Sep. 11-13

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
chicken shit by wittgren v cruz and then gives up a two run homer - totally gutless - and now he gives up another - now they're just kicking sand in our faces

Eight runs for the Twins, all on home runs. Last night all three runs came on home runs. So that's 11 runs so far, all via the long ball.

Indians pitchers need to stop throwing A) high sliders in the middle of the zone, and B) fastballs right down the middle. Anything up in the zone better be a fastball and it better be at the top or above the zone or on the corners. Breaking balls need to be down.

In Buxton's first at-bat he hacked at Plesac's first pitch, a cutter on the outside corner, and popped out. So the next time up Plesac figures Buxton won't swing at the first pitch again. Wrong. He throws a fastball right down the middle and Buxton hits it out. Third time up Buxton swings at the first three pitches - all breaking balls out of the zone.

Memo to Indians' pitchers - Buxton comes up hacking. Don't throw him any strikes if you don't have to. Same with La Tortuga. Never saw a pitch he didn't like.

And that's a wrap - five losses in a row and we're 3.5 games behind the streaking White Sox who have won 18 of 23. Meanwhile the Twins are now 20-5 at home.

Looking at these batting orders there's a huge disparity in hitting talent between the Indians and Twins. It's a good thing Kepler and Arraez are hurt or we'd really be in trouble.

McKenzie could get hammered tomorrow. You can't make a mistake against these guys.

Could somebody wake up Franmil?

The 8 and 9 hitters, Berto and DeShields, struck out six times in eight at-bats. The Tribe left 11 runners on base.

"The one home run that kind of got me a little bit was the first-pitch fastball to Buxton because he’s a first-pitch fastball hitter." - Sandy Alomar

So did Berto call for a fastball or did Plesac? You can't beat the Twins playing stupid baseball. There's a scouting report - use it.

Rosario also homered on a first pitch fastball in the middle of the plate off Wittgren. Astudillo homered on a first pitch breaking ball in the middle of the zone.

The Twins come up ready to swing at the first pitch. You can't just throw something in the middle of the zone. What seems to work best is pitching them backwards; start out with breaking stuff and finish them off with a fastball up, down and in, or just off the outside corner.

No more belt high changeups in the center of the plate, please. Gonzalez hit one 419 feet. They hit two homers off Bieber the day before on that pitch.

checking in on the Indians

Annnnd they’ve collapsed as well

when I checked in earlier the twins had four hits - all had left the yard

Frustrating day all around!! When do the Cavs start so I won’t be disappointed with an underachieving team?

These guys are bad.
They were 26-15 before this losing streak.

Yesterday they were 3-for-16 with RISP. 13 hits and 3 walks only got them 5 runs. Hard to win when you get out-homered 4-0 and can't hit with ducks on the pond. This has been an issue all season.

Remember the Twins led MLB in home runs in full season 2019 so this is not unexpected.

remember the twins home run barage disappeared in the playoffs.. the bomba squad and the boom stix are great for the regular season..but.. pitching and defense (and a little luck) matter most in October baseball..
