2020 Series 3 | Indians @ Twins | July 30-31 & August 1-2

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Tribe has scored 1 run in 8 innings against the Twins' bullpen over two games and that run came on a slow ground ball that squeezed between two infielders who got in each other's way. Still no starter has gone more than five innings for the Twins this year. No problem. Their bullpen looks really good so far.

Indians' catchers are now 3-for-23 with no RBI's in 8 games. Luplow is 0-for-16, Mercado 2-for-19, and Greg Allen 0-for-6. That's a combined 2-for-41 for three outfielders.

Naquin and DeShields should get their chance since everyone else is off to a slow start.

So far the Tribe pen has thrown 21 IP.

In only two of them have they given up any earned runs, plus the unearned run by Karinchak in extra innings.

Yes, and the one run allowed by Leone was inconsequential since the Indians won 5-3.

Hand's bad outing was the only one that cost a game and that's not even certain because even if he shut them out in the 9th we still might have lost in extras.

Everybody including me thought the bullpen would be the weak link but that might not be the case based on the early results, especially since we've played five games against good to great hitting teams with only one really damaging inning.

One thing we've only seen once is a relief pitcher coming in during an inning and that was Cimber coming in for Hand. That might be due to the three-batter rule. Other than that nobody has had to come in with runners on base in a high leverage situation. The relievers have been able to come in and start innings with the bases empty so they can focus on the batter and don't have to worry about one hit losing the game. But those situations will come.

Our starters have been so good that it's helping the bullpen. The relievers come in with a clean inning and nobody on base. When they have to come in with runners in scoring position and the game on the line is when we'll find out if they're really as good as they look so far.
