2020 Series 3 | Indians @ Twins | July 30-31 & August 1-2

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not much of a difference between a plate appearance of Franmil Reyes right now and if I would grab a bat.

sano with his second bomb - average up to .158
Leon having a nice inning behind the plate

This is looking like another hose-fest. Twinkies knocking the cover off the ball, and the Tribe can’t manage more than an infield hit...

Another slow start for Los and you can’t blame cold weather.

Zero clutch hitting. Team is hard to watch.

Reyes is like an automatic out, these days. Move him back in the line-up.

Same old early season song and dance with these guys, except this year we only have 51 more games to fix it . . .

3 runs in the last 40 innings for the Indians' offense.

1 run in 11 innings against the Twins bullpen. Getting the starters out after 5-6 innings isn't working.

The 6-9 hitters were hitting .140 going into tonight's game. It's lower now. They were 1-for-39 in losses coming in.

The Indians almost were no-hit tonight. If not for a clumsy third baseman screwing up his footwork covering first and a bad call on Zimmer's infield hit, the Tribe would have been no-hit. They only managed two line drives the entire game, both by Lindor and both right at someone.

The Indians are now 29th in runs per game, averaging less than 3.0. There are 12 teams averaging over 5 runs per game, including the Orioles. Detroit, Kansas City, and the White Sox are all over 4 runs a game.

On the bright side, the bullpen is looking much better than expected. Cam Hill has retired all 12 batters he's faced. Karinchak has retired 12-of-14 and walked the other two. Cimber has retired 11-of-14 and not allowed any earned runs. Wittgren, Perez, and Maton are unscored on in six combined innings. The Indians' team ERA of 2.13 is best in the A.L. and over a run lower than the second place team.

Did you get the feeling tonight that when the Twins got up 2-0 early the game was over? The Indians are 0-4 in games where the opponent scores first.

The Indians have won every game in which they have scored first, and lost every game in which they haven't.

Tito front loaded the lines up to take advantage of that stat, but for the most part, the bats we depend on haven't done their jobs.

Meanwhile, the pitching and defense have been outstanding.

Cookie looked good again, in spite of the three dingers, but he got tired after about 60-65 pitches.

I liked the Maeda trade for the Twins, and think he will be a bigger factor for them in the long run than Donaldson. IMO he was misused by the Didgers..from a player standpoint, not a team standpoint. He throws everything, including the kitchen sink, at batters.

It will be interesting to see how Civale pitches today. I'm not into the idea of crucial series early into seasons, and even though this is a shortened season, it's still early. But the obvious fact that the Twins are the main competition, this game carries more than usual weight.
