2020 Series # 6 Tribe Hosts the Cubs -- Aug 11-12

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Plutko looking stellar, but he may not go more than 4 or 5 innings.

The baseball gods are, of course, angry because of recent events.

Hoo-boy. Maton, too. Not our night. On to the next.

Did anybody catch Matt Underwood's reference to the Guardian statues on the bridge at the onset of the broadcast? Foreshadowing perhaps?

No big loss. The Cubs had their #1 starter against our #6. Not much of a chance to win this one. As always, the Indians were helpless against a crafty, soft-tossing lefty. Not that anybody has hit Lester so far. You can put this one down as a scheduled loss.

The streak of allowing four runs or less ended at 17. The record was 21. Oh well - can't complain about 17. Let's start another streak and get the next 17.

Plutko came in having pitched one inning in the last 14 days. He looked rusty to me. His pitches were all over the place. He was lucky to get through four innings allowing just the one run. Tito didn't want him going through the lineup for the third time.

That pop was the bursting of the Cam Hill balloon. Five runs in 2/3s of an inning. Ouch. Maton didn't help by giving up the home run, but once the Cubs had three runs it didn't matter.

Reyes with two more hits and a walk, giving him 9 hits and 2 walks in the last five games. He's getting on a roll. That double off Lester was very impressive. He got jammed up and in - I don't even think it was a strike. He swung late and hit it off the trademark and I thought he popped it up. The ball landed on the warning track in right center. Reyes is unbelievably strong.

I'm about done with Domingo Santana and his .171 average. Luplow is at .038 (1-for-26). Zimmer is down to .207. He has 3 hits in his last 19 at-bats; all singles. I suppose the outfield should be Naquin, DeShields, and Freeman. Hey, Freeman is hitting over .200, which is more than I can say for Luplow, Allen, Mercado, Domingo Santana, and Daniel Johnson. We have five outfielders hitting under the Mendoza line and Zimmer is barely above it. Un-freaking-believable.

Indians catchers are still 0-for-August. It's only Aug. 11 but could they really finish the month without a hit? You would think not, but I'm starting to wonder.

Worst hitting group of outfielders and catchers in MLB history, I'm sure. We have Reyes and the four infielders; nobody else is doing squat. That has to change, and soon.
