Who are some names?

JJ Watt seems like a savvy move to make. he doesn’t have a lot left on his deal and he can stil be productive. Even though we need help in the secondary having Watt opposite Myles immediately makes the defense better. I think you can get him for a mid round pick. maybe a 3rd.

Anthony Harris might be discussed but I think if they really wanted him they would’ve made that move already.

I highly doubt they make a move, but I really hope the Browns add a piece to the secondary. The Browns have an opportunity to really finish the season strong and get into the playoffs - improve the defense while that window is open.

I’ve seen Brian Poole of the Jets floated as option. Justin Simmons could be an option at S and has a strong connection to Woods, but he’s on a franchise tag like Harris and is looking to get paid.

I like what the Ravens did to get Peters and Steelers with Fitzpatrick. Another playmaker on the defense to pair with Ward and Garrett would go a long way.

I’d give up more than I’m proud to admit for Harrison Smith or Anthony Harris.

Andrew Sendejo is guaranteed to raise my blood pressure every Sunday, without fail.

Would you trade OBJ for Watt and a 3rd?

I was lambasted on here after suggesting earlier this week that the Browns NEED to acquire Harris. Among the criticisms: it’s only 8 games, he wouldn’t get up to speed fast enough, and not worth giving up assets when we aren’t going to contend for a Super Bowl.

But dear God if I have to watch Sendejo, Redwine, and Joseph trip over their own balls for another week... Give me the All-Pro with a barebones understanding of the playbook over a Sendejo who’s mastered it.

The thing you can’t account for in the score sheet are momentum swings or emotionally big plays. Think about how many plays Sendejo has given up this year that have led to a huge gain or a TD. He’s in a tough spot - I don’t think he’d be starting if the backfield was 100% healthy, but that’s just the NFL.

I find it hard to believe that Harris or Smith would be caught out of position, miss as many tackles, or damn near head hunt their own teammates nearly as much as Sendejo has this year. He’s a rotational guy at best. Berry needs to fortify the position ahead of the deadline.

I'd have to think multiple picks would be involved for JJ Watt after BOB stripped them of most of their high level picks.

They only move JJ if he asks to be traded. They'd also let him decide where he wants to go.

There's no way that team trades JJ Watt, no matter how much @Los216 would love to get an older player with a big name on this team. If they traded JJ Watt without him wanting to leave, that fanbase would riot.

I think it's easy to get caught up in 5-2 and say "well if they add some defensive reinforcements, who knows what might happen!"

But I think deep down the front office knows this team isn't a legitimate contender. With that in mind, I just can't see them sacrificing quality draft assets to acquire veteran defensive players that may not add even one single extra victory.

They're probably going to win 9 or 10 games if they don't add anyone. Anyone they add would need to help in 2021 too at least.

I definitely think they would consider something like the Ronnie Harrison trade. Giving up a late rounder for a guy still on his rookie contract.

It’s a little too late for their fan base to be rioting at this point. They should’ve been rioting a long time ago but alas.

I don’t think JJ watt would command more than a 3rd round pick. He’s older and he only has a year left on his deal after this season. He’s not the answer to all of our defensive problems but he should be attainable and he could give us another pass rusher t take some of the load off on Myles.

I also don’ think that there’s going to be any good DB’s who get moved. Ain’t gone be no Minka level players who get traded. You can probably get a pass rusher though. We know Dunlap wants to be traded.

Watt hasn’t asked for a trade but he’s clearly not happy and he’s been answering questions about trade rumors in all of his press conferences.

What exactly does this mean, and what does it mean coming from a Browns fan who had to sit through the abomination our franchise has been since the return?

Do you know anything about Texans fans? Do you think they were sitting there loving Bill O'Brien and were ecstatic the team traded away Nuk for peanuts? Do you think they were thrilled when they kicked Duane Brown to the curb because the dude dared to ask for guaranteed money, got Watson banged up for two years, then traded a king's ransom for Laremy Tunsil, who had one year left on his deal... so he had all the leverage in the world and made BOB pay him the richest contract to an offensive lineman in NFL history?

Just wow... that sounds like an awful response.

I don’t think JJ watt would command more than a 3rd round pick.
It doesn't matter at all what you think the price would be. He isn't available. He IS that franchise. He's like 10x more loved down there than Joe Thomas was up here, and you know we wouldn't have done Joe dirty like that and traded him if he didn't want to be traded.

I think the fan base rioting reaction to a franchises moves is overblown. Ultimately it doesn’t matter that much. If the Texans traded JJ Watt without him wanting to be traded their still going to have fans. people are still going to watch. the show will go on.

These teams aren’t basing their moves off of how much the fans love a certain player. It’s a business. If the best move for business is to trade JJ Watt then that’s what they’re gonna do. The NFL is the one sport where teams will throw all of that fan favorite bullshit out of the window for business.

I feel you don't understand the business.

First, they absolutely will lose fans.

Second, their merch sales will go down.

Third, their ticket sales will go down if that is even a factor.

Fourth, their future ability to build relationships with players will be tarnished. That means less success in free agency, fewer hometown discounts to stick with the team.

But hey, you have your mind made up. Go get JJ Watt! Pair him up with Jameis Winston and take us to the promised land Los!

The fans reactions do matter but I promise you that they do not weigh as heavily as you are making it seem. If you actually looked you would see that there’s a lot of Texans fans who want the team to trade JJ Watt to a team where he has a handle to win.

Browns fans were saying the same thing about Joe Thomas. How many years did we have people on here practically begging to Trade Joe Thomas to The Broncos? I guarantee that now team is sitting in their meeting rooms thinking how to improve their team and backing out on moves because of fan pressure.

They aren’t going anywhere or winning anything anytime soon. If they can get a decent pick for JJ Watt they will absolutely consider it. They’re not going to turn it down because a few fans might get emotional. Every single year there’s teams in the NFL that move on from players who were franchise guys and it’s all business.

The Seahawks broke up the LOB. Patriots and Tom Brady. Panthers and Cam Newton. Brett Favre. Peyton Manning. Joe Montana. Julius Peppers. Emmitt Smith.

JJ Watt isn’t immune to this. Why would you think that he’s the one guy that this wouldn’t apply to? If the Texans get a decent offer he’s gone. All the chatter around him has been about trade rumors.

And your schtick where you try and spin every thing I say is pretty tired. It’s borderline obsessive. You should chill. I shouldn’t be in your head rent free.
