When LBJ was a rookie the Cavs won 42 games.
The Cavs are now 14-12. We also have played one of the hardest strength of schedule so far.
It's hard to figure a revised win total for the season.
JA is an All Star ⭐ wether he makes the team or not.
Mobley is the Rookie of the Year.
You can see Garland getting better every week.
When the trade deadline comes, I think other teams will make some attractive offers. But I'm not sure I want to mess with the chemistry.

The defense has lifted the floor of this team tremendously. If they are struggling on offense they can still hang in games and if theyre shooting well they can blow teams out

The Cavs now have played the toughest schedule in the NBA so far according to powerrankingsguru.com. The Cavs' remaining schedule is the 22nd toughest (or 9th easiest). You'd think it would be the easiest, but the Eastern Conference is much stronger than the West this year; 10 of the 15 East teams are .500 or better and the Knicks are one game under.

The Cavs are 14-12 having played the toughest schedule, although when you consider how injury depleted Miami and Chicago were it might be the 2nd or 3rd toughest. But the Cavs have had a lot of injuries as well, considering Rubio is the only rotation player who has not missed a game. At one point they didn't have Mobley, Markky, or Love. Markkanen was out for three weeks.

If the Cavs can be healthier the rest of the season than they have been so far their winning percentage should improve, especially factoring in the much easier schedule the rest of the way. The Cavs are 14-12 with seven losses coming against the top six teams in winning percentage (Phoenix (twice), Brooklyn (twice), Golden State, Utah, and Milwaukee). That puts them at 14-5 against teams not in the top six. Since starting the season with losses to Memphis (14-11) and Charlotte (14-13) the Cavs are 14-3 against teams not in the top six. And there are 49 out of 56 games left to play against teams not currently in the top six.

If the Cavs continue to play at a 14-5 clip for those remaining 49 games against the non-elite teams, they would end up at 50-32.

The other factor that could help the Cavs besides a much easier schedule and (hopefully) fewer injuries is that they should continue to play better as a unit as the season progresses.

The vulnerability is that the team is too dependent on Darius Garland. If he gets injured they are in a lot of trouble. Rubio is a solid point guard but he can't play 48 minutes. At age 31 he shouldn't be playing more than about 30 minutes per game and they have nobody else remotely qualified to play point guard at this level. Garland leads the team in on-off so a strong case could be made that he is the MVP.

I wouldn’t do much at the deadline. Not much I want to trade. Let the team develop

Just to add on to my previous post, powerrankingsguru has only eight teams with an easier schedule than the Cavs the rest of the way. Seven of those teams are in the Western Conference. The only East team with an easier schedule is the Hawks (13-12). They will be the Cavs main competition for a playoff spot, IMO.

The toughest remaining schedule in the NBA is the Celtics (13-12). This gives the Cavs a big advantage over Boston in securing a playoff spot. The 3rd, 5th and 6th toughest remaining schedules belong to the Raptors (11-14), Wizards (15-11), and Knicks (12-13). These are all teams that have current records close to where the Cavs are at 14-12. The Cavs 22nd toughest schedule gives them a big advantage over these four teams that would be considered their primary competition for a playoff spot.

The Raptors are probably done with Bam Adebayo out for several months. They've lost six of their last 10. So have the Knicks. The Celtics are 5-5 and the Hornets 4-6 in the last ten. The Hawks are coming on (7-3) but everybody else is treading water or floundering.

The Hornets, who are tied with the Cavs at 14-12, have the 11th toughest schedule, so the Cavs have the advantage there as well. The Sixers (14-11) and Heat (15-11) have the 16th and 19th toughest schedules remaining, so I assume they will end up in that 4-6 range especially if Embiid and Butler stay healthy. The Sixers are 11-4 when Embiid plays.

As I see it the best teams in the East are the Nets, Bulls, Bucks, Heat, and 76ers. The Cavs are in the next tier which also includes Washington (15-11), Miami (15-11), Atlanta (13-12), Charlotte (14-13), and Boston (13-13). Those six teams will compete for the three playoff spots behind the five teams in top group. The Heat's remaining schedule is almost as easy as the Cavs, so I figure they're in. Boston has the toughest schedule of any team so I figure they're out. So the Cavs will compete with Washington, Charlotte, and Atlanta for the last two spots.

Atlanta's schedule is even easier than the Cavs so it could come down to us, Washington, and Charlotte for the 8th spot. But when you consider the Cavs are in 7th now and have the second easiest schedule in the East, they should be in good shape.

I think you are giving too much credit to the Wizards. They started off 10-3 and have been falling ever since. They had lost 3 in a row before eking out a win last night in OT versus Detroit. Their upcoming schedule (Utah, Denver, Pho,Sac, Utah, NY, Phi, Mia, Us, Chi, Cha) will likely put them below 500. As sick as it sounds, they miss Westbrook.
I think the top 2 are Brooklyn and the Bucks and the rest is a mess. I can't put the Heat up there with Abadeyo missing the next month. I'd probably include Philly in the top group except I doubt Embid's health, if he misses any time look out. So I could see Us, Chicago, Atl, Boston, Miami and Phi competing for the rest with Charlotte, Washington and the Knicks hoping for a playin. I doubt anyone else factors in.
We have to get another guard. With Garland this is a lock playoff team right now. That's not necessarily because i think Garland is that good, but more because we have no other playoff level guards. Rubio is ok as a backup or a second guard, but his history says he won't take a team anywhere. We have no other true guards. They have to find a competent guard who can score if need be. Not a star, just someone they can bring in without the wheels falling off because if we ever see extended games with Okoro and Valentine as our backcourt, it will be hello lottery

On pace for 50 wins. Hoo I didn't expect it
