The Lakers waived Alfonso McKinnie. So if you want to try him again.

I keep trying to concoct ways to switch Sexton out for a viable wing, but the fact of the matter is they’re going to give it a go until at least the trade deadline. And that’s probably the right move. We’ll have more info on the team, some idea as to what Mobley might be, and chances are someone is going to be desperate for scoring around then. It’s the right move, but the impatient fan in me sees how close we are to having a legit, young starting 5 with no fundamental questions about size and I just want to get to that point.

A young wing will always be more valuable than a young combo guard. When you factor in that combo guard being 6’1 and due for a huge extension, it’s no surprise the trade market for him isn’t what we hoped. At this point I would be in favor of trading Sexton for the absolute best draft pick we can get next year, even if it’s likely outside the top 10. And then next draft we’ll have our pick and another one to try to get our wing of the future. Or if we need to, maybe we’ll package both for a better pick.

Right now the choices seem to be:
A. Signing a very mediocre wing in free agency.
B. Trade for a pretty good SG or wing.
But the only assets we have to trade are Sexton, Nance Jr., and our 1st round pick.
In a few days, after FA shakes out, I think we should be able to make a trade to get another important piece.

Why do we need to trade for a wing? The Cavs aren't going anywhere this season with or without one. Let's not add any more bad contracts and just play through this season and hopefully address the wing position next year in the lottery.

Not sure the playoffs are realistic this year. At best, Cavs have the ...13th best roster in the East? I think we look to improve a bit for the first half, then talk the second half of the year to get a good wing.

What do you mean? Are you saying to ride with what we have and see how it goes first half, then re-evaluate whether we should look to trade for a wing?

Im saying we shouldnt overpay for a wing. If we can sneak into a deal and like...give up Cedi and pick up Deni or Miles Bridges as collateral, do it. But dont trade Sexton for a tier 4 wing player. I would just wait til 2023 FA and get Wiggins or something for cheap in that case

Agreed. The one exception is if the wing we trade for could become a part of our core. I imagine that would only happen in a deal involving Sexton or Nance.

Raul Neto has resigned with Washington. so our quest for a 3rd string of goes on.

The playoffs are a pipe dream this year. We’d have to best out the likes of NY, Chicago, Indiana, and/or Boston for a playoff spot and I just can’t see that happening. Every team in the East is improved with the possible exception of Boston.

Lots of assumptions here; not all of them warranted.
