So, if the Cavs are going to be jobbed out of games like they have been, while going through injury struggles.... I'm OK with it.

Clearly, they are not tanking and playing positive trending (if not optimal) basketball. I'd like them to approach "optimal". That's gonna take some moves.

I still think despite the early frustration, this is a better look than 2013 when playoffs were being -forced- and still ended up with the #1 pick.

I want them to be good enough to steal it from Golden Piss when they face them again.

I'd rather Koby do this than what David Griffin is doing in New Orleans. Gifted a #1 pick to compensate the team's star going to the NBA Establishment. Got their best players not named LeBron in that trade. Got another Top 5 pick courtesy of the "gift".

Lonzo goes to Chicago and is (no pun intended) balling. Meanwhile, their star is looking much like that meme of him awaiting the pot of gumbo being cooked and their next best player is on everyone's list for a trade.

Griffin definitely got the LeGM assist, and Koby has done the best with what little luck the Cavs have been granted post-LeBron. With no "LeGM" help. Meanwhile the actual "LeGM" is looking like a ticking timebomb in LA.

Give me the silence and bare-minimum "media releases".
Koby is already proven to be a much better GM than Griffin. LeBron made Griffin look good.

??

Griffin wasn't that good but I think a GM needs to have a winning season before thinking of saying this.

Just look at Griffins team without LeBron. He can't even find a coach. Dude already went through 2 or 3 coaches. He already lost Zion. Can't find a coach to motivate his team like Koby. Let Lonzo ball wall. Wasted assets when he was here. I agree with the winning part but Griffin didn't build a winning team from the start. He had LeBron, He had Kyrie and LeBron brought over Love.

And still....you're judged by wins and losses.

So I'm gonna need see an Altman team hit 30 wins without LeBron, ya know?

Griffin is wildly overrated but he did manage to put together a roster to beat the Warriors.

I gotta see Altman do something first.

I'm still so fucking disgusted by McGee stopping the Cavs fast break (and run) by grabbing a random guy at the fucking other end of the court with no real repercussions that I can't think straight.

That's a basketball play? Fuck you NBA.

Why the league allows this bullshit is beyond me. Ruins the game, ruins the league. They should have counted the Cedi 3 and given the Cavs the ball.

...only in the NBA thats right. CAnt allow lazy superstars to get exposed jogging back, or even cherrypicking on the other end.

At the end of the day, they have played their last four games against the league's top three teams, and had leads deep into each game. They did this without two of their best players (as well as other absences sprinkled throughout).

For a young team like the Cavs, I can't ask for much more than that. Obviously they need to learn how to seal the deal, and not let teams off the hook when they have late leads. That can be learned. What can't be learned is being able to have those late leads in the first place.

This is what you said a few posts ago:

This is the only statement I'm addressing. The question is "which shot is more efficient?" Therefore, it does NOT matter the reason behind low mid range percentage, and it does NOT matter whether you or I like watching guys jack up 3s.

Other posters explained to you why your statement was wrong. Then you asked for links on guys shooting over 40% from 3s because you said it was just 3 guys who are doing that this season - I provided them for you (70 players last yr, 51 this yr)

Again, you said that mid range shots being less efficient type of shots than 3 pointers was ridiculous. That's all I'm addressing. Other posters and I are telling you it's not ridiculous. It's just numbers whether we like it or not.
And I finally agreed with a poster that what it really comes down to is a person’s preference of what kind of game that person enjoys watching. Give me an acrobatic twisting lay up to the basket for an AND 1 every day over watching players jack up three pointers every other trip down the floor. It’s amazing…..I read an article yesterday that said more half of the teams in the league now use the three point shot 40% of the time in their offense. That’s a lot of three pointers. Not my idea of fun basketball viewing but again it’s all about one’s preference.

I haven’t seen anybody say that they prefer a ton of 3’s, but winning is what’s most important, and that’s what it takes to win.

Maybe!!! Last year the Bucks shot 35% from three land and 47% inside the arc…so shooting the three ball doesn’t translate to “winning”! It’s another weapon for sure but you don’t have to shoot a high volume or percentage of them to win. The Bucks proved that!

Bucks were fifth in the league in 3 point makes last year shooting them at a 38.9% clip, also good for fifth in the league

I was looking at the CBSports Power Rankings from yesterday. They have the Cavs 22nd due to five straight losses, but IMO that is way too low. Breaking down the Cavs records against where their opponents are ranked:

Against teams ranked 1-6: 2-6
Against teams ranked 11-21: 6-4
Against the #28 team: 1-0

The Cavs have played 8 of their 19 games against teams ranked 1-6 (Golden State, Phoenix, Brooklyn, Atlanta, and Charlotte). They played 10 of 19 against the middle of the pack and one game against teams ranked 23-30 (Detroit).

IOW, it's been a very top-heavy schedule over the first 19 games. Put another way, they have played 13 of 19 against teams ranked in the top half and 6 of 19 against the bottom half.

Looking at the best teams they've played, they lost to the #1 Warriors by 15 points, the #2 Suns by 5 and 9, and the #3 Nets by 5 and 10.

We're about a quarter of the way through the regular season and the Cavs are one game below .500 while playing an extremely tough early schedule. How tough?

Teamrankings.com has the Cavs playing the 4th toughest schedule so far. Powerrankingsguru.com has them with the 2nd toughest schedule. Tankathon.com has them with the 2nd EASIEST remaining schedule.

So the Cavs are going from one of the four toughest schedules so far to the second easiest the rest of the way.

Looking at the five toughest games so far...

Against the #1 Warriors the Cavs were down by 6 with three minutes to go.

Against the #2 Suns the Cavs were down 5 with 11 seconds left and tied with two minutes left.

Against the #3 Nets the Cavs were down 1 with two minutes left and down 8 with 1:39 left.

IOW, the Cavs had a chance to win in the last three minutes of all but the one Suns game where they were down by 15 with 3:15 to go and go back to within 5 points in the final seconds.
