2022 NBA Finals

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think the most glaring thing here for Miami is that when they need it, Bam can’t be more than a 3rd guy, at best.

He’s out of the top tier and back to the Jarrett Allen, Ayton tier for me moving forward.

Which means his contract is bad and is exactly what James Jones and Monty are trying to avoid getting stuck with in Aytons next deal.

Can we please take a moment to recognize how great Jarrett Allen’s deal is?

Bam had a game this series where he attempted 5 shots in a loss.

On a max deal.

He's barely making more than Lowry and Lowry is going out there throwing up goose eggs.

This year Lowry is at 26 million. Next year 28. Year after 29.

He's giving them something like 7 points and 4.5 assists a game in the playoffs.

They haven't had Herro the last two games and that's basically the series at this point unless he comes back. They very much rely on him.

They have to dump Lowry this off-season no matter what happens though. They're better off going forward with Vincent.

I don't blame the Heat for making this move trying to win a title. Series still isn't over fwiw.

But Lowry is 35, doesn't keep himself in great shape, and has been down all season. It's not going to get better from here as he ages. He missed a bunch of time last year. Bunch of time this year. Is hurt again in the playoffs. I don't see how this gets better for Miami going forward.

Bam is overpaid, but I'd much rather be paying a young player like that than Lowry.

We'll just have to disagree on this one @RchfldCavRaised

I don’t think we disagree. My thinking on preserving Lowry for this series was to neutralize Smart for 20 mins. Nothing he could do with Jaylen or Tatum both being unlocked by Udoka if the best two wings for Miami are hurt.

I don’t and wouldn’t invest that much into Lowery if he can’t contribute when needed the most. They were patient all season counting on him being healthy now. Their advantage of demanding so much of bargain basement talent is totally undermined by his acquisition and handling.

No way in hell would I take that contract moving forward. If he can’t get healthy then they’ve got to move him for shorter deals but bigger money because they won’t have space again for the life of Butlers prime (3yrs max)

There’s a strong case for them to package Lowry and Duncan for Russell Westbrook (Lakers would do it since Lowry runs through ADs contract) I suppose.

This seems like an awful idea considering Robinson's contract and Lowry's injury history the last 5 years or so. They aren't going to have a ton of options with Westbrook, but if they can't figure out a way to flip him for something good, I just keep him and let his deal expire if I'm the Lakers. If LeBron leaves after this year, I have no desire to be stuck with Robinson, injured Lowry & AD, no picks, and no cap space.

If they can't get an upgrade in a trade, they're going to at least make sure they keep that cap flexibility.

I thought about this. It'd reduce the amount of years but...Westbrook has a way of making things worse. Lowry might give you nothing, but Westbrook can actively hurt your offense by taking the ball away.

They'd win this series as is with Herro.

Yea I don’t see Westbrook conforming to Heat culture….

Russ is gonna Russ and that low IQ style of play, and turnovers, and terrible shots would absolutely eat Riley and Spo alive…There’s no way…

But Max Strus is making pennies.

They paid Lowry money to be a crunch time performer and a steady, guiding hand and they've just been worse w/ him in the lineup the entire post-season. Vincent has been the objectively better player.

I don't want to overreact. I've been trying to argue against all of what I perceive as an overreaction to other teams losing a game or even a series in here and the rest of the board.

BUt Lowry had his worst season of his career and is following it up with an absolutely absymmal post-season. Not just bad by his standards. Bad by any standard.

So when you look at his age and what they're paying him, I don't feel like this is an overreaction. The Heat could very easily be a conference finals team next year without him on the roster.

If GS closes it out tonight, I hope Boston does the same. The GS/Boston match-ups should be entertaining:

Curry/Smart
Thompson/Brown
Wiggins/Tatum
Green/Horford
Looney/Williams

If both teams go small:

Curry/Smart
Poole/White (or Williams)
Thompson/Brown
Wiggins/Tatum
Green/Horford

GSW up 17 at half, 69-52. Dallas's chances of winning are down to about 1%.

Dallas has plenty of time...

Deficit is 10 heading to the fourth.
Went on a 15 -2 run in a little under four minutes.

(Edit: wishful thinking..)
