Wow. I can't believe how close their 2nd year stats are to each other. Dean a slightly worse rebounder, but better efficiency most places and fewer turnovers.

Defensively, Wade seems to be better.

Wade isn't better defensively.

Like most players on the Cavs team he is being propped by the overall defensive talent around him. Avdija is on a really weak defensive team and is an exceptional defender. That's basically what makes him 'good' right now.

Can he guard Durant like Wade can?

He tries to avoid fouling because he is being treated like a rookie so he gets called for a lot of bs fouls, but there is no question, this is an area Avdija is just better and you can't take that away from him. He is lagging in other areas. He is plenty strong...strong core and has good lateral quickness, good timing and length on his contests. Good stls+blks numbers as well. Guards 1-5 effectively.

He would fit amazingly well on this Cavs team defensively.

Yeah he looks pretty sound fundamentally. Like Wade

You really think they are equal as defenders?

Wade is able to stay with players and contest some, but he doesn't have enough length to bother enough, he doesn't generate steals or blocks. So he is pretty limited to that. He is also not the same level as a team defender.

I like Wade's defense a lot, but they are not the same in that regard. They are similar, but not quite.

LOL @ Pistons offer

The protections and year of the pick are a huge key....

I mean if the 76ers are getting a clear top half of lotto pick and Grant for now... that isn't horrific, honestly. Though I am higher on Grant than most.

This tells me Grant could be had... and I'd like to call and see what that would take.

I think the minimum for Grant would be what Indy wants for LaVert: a first round pick and young player. Probably multiple firsts for Grant.

Really thought Grant was more of winner than that.

Thought him going to Detroit was a bit evident of that in terms of going to a small market and making the most of the opporuntity... but apparently he's just a get money and feed me the ball guy based on that quote.

Nah... not what this team is about.

Going to Detroit for the biggest deal should've showed you he was about money and being a #1 option...

To a degree, sure but I won't blame a guy for taking a new chance... seeing if he can build something... get more minutes... but after a couple years where he's shown he's not that guy... a guy who can carry a team... I would have hoped he'd have matured into wanting to win...

If he wanted to win, he would've stayed in Denver...going to the biggest contract isn't a *bad* thing, by any stretch, but it's not someone I'd consider a selfless guy, or purely about winning.
