Would I pick a two time all star who led his team to the NBA Finals at the age of 24 #1 in the draft? Ummm, yes, I would?
Considering some of the busts we have seen as #1 picks Devin Booker would be fine
Go look at a bunch of drafts.
You'd struggle to find a single one where Devin Booker, even knowing what we know about him now, would go 1st.
You probably would struggle to find one where he'd go 2nd.
And that's after being in the league for 7 years with a whole bunch of seasoning coming off of a Finals run (where Chris PAul was the best player on the team fwiw...)
The idea here was that a player with Devin Booker as a ceiling doesn't go 1st in basically any draft.
Now, if you absolutely knew, w/o a doubt, that that player would HIT that ceiling, 100%? Then probably, because you're removing the chance of a bust.
But from a pure talent perspective, there's always guys in every draft w/ higher upside than that.
And Cade was definitely not the highest upside player in this draft. I'd say there's almost zero chance he ends up the best player from this draft.
There will be players, multiple, from this draft better than Devin Booker.
